The tutorial also reviewed the future of ‘drones’ which is projected to change the media landscape. 1. Apart from the above examples, select ONE media innovation or device which is predicted to shape the future of media or change the media landscape. (hint: consider mobile devices, wearable/smart technology, driverless vehicles, gadgets, apps, transponders, etc.) 2. Review the literature and summarise the views presented (to include the advantages and disadvantages) on the media innovation chosen 3. To what extent can advertisers and/or the industry make use of this media innovation/device? Support the above with evidence sourced from academic references and/or professional sources. To avoid duplication of case studies – reply to my email sent to all presenters (in your respective tutes) with your chosen case study. Key tips • Address the key sections of the topic comprehensively. • YouTube videos should not be more than 1 minute. • Print out the slides and hand it in prior to the presentation or email a copy over prior to the tutorial class. • As a report is not required, include a reference list (on the last page) and corresponding in-text citations on each slide. (see the link on Moodle which has examples and guidelines of this) . • Print the reference list on a separate A4 page. • Time limit: Presentation (10 min) + Q&A (10 min). Make full use of the 10 min allocated for the presentation. • Outline 2 questions after the presentation for class discussion. You will facilitate a discussion regarding any components of the presentation content. • Strive to not use any notes or read out the presentation - so rehearse, rehearse, rehearse. • Start early in the 1st week as the research component will take a few days to compile as there will not be a single source that will have all the above information. Review textbooks, journal articles, professional websites, etc. etc. as they will are also good sources (over and above Google search). Note that you may have to go through a few case studies before finding the right one. If you cannot gather the relevant information for your chosen case study, select another case study. • Refer to the marking criteria sheet (on the reverse) for the specific areas to focus on.
