Note: You do not need to mention the organisation's name if you want to keep it confidential, just provide an overview of the organisation's background (industry, number of employees, your connection to the organisation - if any, etc.)
Overarching problem What specific problem does your industry partner face?

Overarching research aim Here you have to translate your industry partner’s real problem into a specific research aim, which will guide your project.

Data needs How will you find data?
No need for details just yet, just provide a general overview of what kinds of data you want to collect/analyse, e.g. surveys, in-depth interviews with key players, document analysis, etc.

Assessment 2: Presentation
Assessment 2 – Research Proposal Presentation
Due: Sunday of Week 6, 11pm AEST
Length: Less than 15 minutes
Conditions: Individual
Weighting: 40%
Requirements
Students are required to present their research proposal (assessment item 2) to their peers and tutor (either through collaborate online, or in person). The presentation, which should be supported by PowerPoint slides, should outline the research plan and showcase the student’s developing communicative skills.
The student should showcase and discuss their approach and experience in negotiating the research plan with their organisation partner.
Please note that all students must upload their Powerpoint slides through Turnitin.

Milestones
By week 1 students would have been introduced to strategies to identify research problems.
By week 2 students would have been introduced to a framework for structured research in organisations.
By week 3 students would have a constructed knowledge of how to construct a literature review pertaining to a particular research problem.
By week 4 students would have received a research proposal template.
Students are encouraged to email their unit tutor if they require further assistance after exhausting all support materials present in the study guide.
Assessment 3: Report
Assessment 3 – Research Report Due: Sunday of Week 13
Length: 7000-7500 words
Conditions: Individual
Weighting: 50%
Requirements
Students are required to undertake a research project involving industry. After acquiring knowledge regarding how to conduct research, and possible problem spaces to research in, the student will be required to apply these skills in practice. The student should engage with an organisation to undertake this research project in.
Students are required to present a final written report based off their research project. This should follow the generic structure outlined in the study guide (topics 9-10).
The study guide corresponding to this unit, in combination with the lecture material and textbook have been designed to equip the student with everything that they need to undertake this work integrated learning research project.
