The Dentine Board want a presentation from you as to what is authentic leadership and how can capable leaders manifest trust between themselves and staff members; how Dentine, as an organisation, might go about developing these attributes and capabilities in their leaders; and what sort of organisational direct and indirect outcomes might be expected through staff engagement and performance because of these attributes in leaders at Dentine. 2. “Clinical leaders need to be both affective and effective; affective is about making a difference; effective is associated with bringing about results through facilitating innovation and change through improvements within the clinical area.” (McSherry and Pearce 2017). The Board of St. Elsewhere’s Hospital Group want a presentation from you that defines and sets out what clinical leadership is about; how they should develop and nurture clinical leaders in their health organisation; and how they might enable affective and effective practice by their clinical leaders. 3. HelpThem have a leadership team and managers that have extensive skills in medical retrieval; clinical and social support to travellers; and networking and partnering abilities. PremiumHealth has recently lost several government contracts for the provision of employee assistance programs and other social service support contracts and has had to downsize its operations. How can the senior leaders of PremiumHealth achieve the necessary goals of the organisation to ensure ongoing viability by downsizing the organisation but retain the loyalty of staff at PremiumHealth? 5. The new General Manager at Serangoon Hospital has ask you to make a presentation of a comprehensive and practical program or approach to how clinical and non-clinical leaders in the hospital might periodically evaluate their leadership and its effectiveness. The new GM is aware of the many ways, tools and systems that could be used but she has asked your group for advice on a program that could be adopted in this busy and complex hospital service. 6. Some observers have commented that the effective use of teams offer health service organisations in public, private and third sector settings the best way to effective and efficiently achieve patient, client and consumer outcomes. In your presentation discuss these observations and articulate and discuss the key leadership responsibilities that relate to these objectives. Also in your presentation provide some examples of health organisations that have successfully employed team work that relates to organisation outcomes or impact. 7. Health organisations in any sector need to put importance on the ability to work collaboratively with other health and non-health organisations. In your presentation develop an argument of what would be the best practices and active behaviours of leaders in these organisations to achieve this important goal. 8. Several health leadership organisations (e.g. professional bodies; associations and colleges etc) prepare lists/publication of leadership ‘competencies’. These competencies represent the knowledge, skills, attitudes and judgment that health leaders need to have now and in the future in order to carry out their leadership and management functions efficiently and effectively. In your presentation present some of these competency frameworks and discuss both the value and effectiveness of the publication of these competencies as well as how competency-based frameworks relate to leadership theory and models.
