2017 CSE5CI Computational Intelligence Assignment (Part II)
Proposed by A/Prof. Justin D. Wang
This assignment contributes 20% of your final marks for students enrolled in CSE5CI. It is a group-based assignment (maximum 3 persons per group) and each member in the group will receive the same marks.
Task description: The assignment aims at consolidating your knowledge base on neural networks modelling and developing presentation skills. The task is to study a publication (project report) entitled forecasting foreign exchange rates with neural networks on the paper content to make a presentation with 20-30 pages in ppt format.
Structure of your presentation
• • Research motivations and the state-of-the-art • Neural networks: architecture and learning techniques • System design: variables, data pre-processing and trading strategies • System evaluation (metrics, result analysis and discussion) • Conclusions with remarks • References
Schedule and venue
All presentations will be given in our normal lab time and scheduled on May 12, 2017 (3-7pm). Presentation venue is at BG 139 (Computer Lab). Please make sure that all members in a group will turn up on time. If you miss out the presentation time, reduced marks will be placed with an alternative arrangement by appointment.
Marking schema (100 marks in total)
The following aspects (20 marks per item) will form the basis for my marking exercises: • Understandings on the problem • Knowledge on neural networks and its learning techniques • Systems input and output variables, trading philosophy and rules • Meanings and interpretation of used metrics for performance evaluation • Explanation and comments on the methodology
