Assessment 2 Peer Review of Lesson Plan Objectives: 1. Receive constructive feedback and comments about your lesson plan (s). 2. Practice giving and receiving feedback that is constructive and intentional. Use the following rubric to guide you in your comments. Your name is: Author of lesson that you reviewed: Presentation Comments and Feedback Is the template used correctly? Yes, all neat and ordered correctly Is the lesson plan written clearly; no spelling, punctuation errors etc? Yes AC content descriptors; Is the subject, year level and strand correctly and clearly written into the template (WA English Year 6 or WA Maths Year 3) Ensure in text reference is placed in the Content descriptor and using the Western Australian Curriculum See your APA referencing guide on this. Content descriptor code correct Lesson Plan Key Elements: Comments and Feedback Objectives: Do they clearly describe what the students will do in the lesson? Is there a clear link between the objectives and the curriculum? Are there too many or too few? Are they measurable and achievable? Appropriate for the year group? Begin the lesson by asking students: ‘Do we have to measure in ‘inches’ or ‘centimeters’ I would remove the question or change it to, Measurement “What can you tell me about it, how do we use it in everyday life, maybe find out if any of the students have tradesman as parents for example. Time: Is time allotted to the lesson sufficient? Is the time allotted reasonable for the year group? Yes, Sufficient time has been allocated Yes Student prior knowledge: Is the background knowledge that the students need to be successful with this lesson been considered and described? Does it relate to the curriculum and objectives? Under this section, I referred to the curriculum and previous year level, and used the curriculum codes for year 1 and 2 to make it more formal, which specifically states the prior knowledge. Materials and Resources: Is the materials list complete, relevant and appropriate as far as you can tell? Yes, for the activity required there is sufficient materials and resources Introduction of the lesson: The opening of the lesson is well described. In your opinion, do you believe is it motivating and engaging? Is it do-able? Linked to objectives? Sufficient introduction, I would however get them to move around more, perhaps you could get them to measure length of classroom using their feet for example? Body: Does the lesson plan include a full detail and description of both the teacher talk (teaching strategies/questions) and what students will be doing and thinking about (activities)? Does the plan consider transitions/grouping if needed? Is there a variety of teaching strategies? Solid body with great activities for demonstration, I would however, include what you would do with the ADHD children and child with Autism, I believe from memory the makeup of the class is mentioned in Topic4 – check with Michelle. Includes good strategies Conclusion: Does the lesson plan clearly describes a plan to check students’ understandings? Is the strategy/activity authentic? (i.e. will student be able to actively and meaningfully reflect on what they have learned?) Linked to obj.? The activity in the conclusion is good, I would be a little concerned about the time if you were you going to ask each individual student to clarify their understanding in own words. Modification: Are the behavior management strategies clearly described? Are they appropriate? How are the needs of all learners being catered for? (i.e. differentiation) Nicely detailed, however I would mention how you would help those students with ADHD and autism. Assessment: Does the lesson plan clearly describe what evidence is collected and how it will be used? Indicate whether it is formative or summative? Do you believe it will enable the author to evaluate the learning? Linked to obj.? Great formative assessment not sure if you would need this statement “Make a list of students and write what is required in each student” I would simply observe during the activities writing notes or working with each student. Evaluation: Has the author included a plan to evaluate the effectiveness of the lesson? Do you believe the plan is adequate? Great evaluation
