Latest Thinking Presentations The purpose of this assignment is for students to work in teams to explore the latest thinking about SHRM and HRM. By week 3, you will allocated into a group and allocated a week for your presentation Working in a team, students will prepare and deliver an interactive presentation for the class on the “latest thinking” on a topic aligned with the theme for your week. This topic is to be decided at the time of group formation. The team presentations are designed to develop your oral communication, presentation, and advocacy skills, as well as to deepen your understanding of SHRM and HRM. The class will also benefit as these presentations will consolidate learning. It is recommended that you use the relevant chapter from your textbook as a starting point for your topic ideas, and then research your topic in more detail by looking for academic articles from the ACU library databases and quality business press publications (for a guide to good journals, see the Learning Resources page). For example, from chapter 6, you might examine the latest thinking on what we know about recruitment and selection focusing on social media in recruitment. Note, "latest thinking," means research published within the last five years. Using the text, plus a minimum of 10 high quality journal articles, design an interactive presentation to the class that conveys the latest research and thinking on the topic, including the implications for practice. The presentation will be a maximum of 30 minutes including approximately 5 minutes of question and class discussion time. All members of your group should help prepare the presentation, although you may choose how many members do the in-class presentation. At least 2 members should present, but all team members must be able to respond to questions. The presentations should be pitched at a business audience, and be interactive and engage the audience rather than simply talking for 30 minutes. Feel free to be creative (e.g., your team may pose as a consulting company giving an interactive seminar to current or future clients) and use whichever presentation aids you feel are helpful to convey relevant information and facilitate class learning and interaction (e.g., interactive activities, case studies, video, roleplay, PowerPoint/Prezi, handouts, etc.) If you choose to use PowerPoint, a maximum of 10 content slides is recommended. Please submit a printed copy of the slides to the lecturer on the day of the presentation, and include your reference list at the end of the presentation slides.
