• Assessment task 3, Critical Evaluation of Evidence. Due Friday 19/05/2017, 2200 hours.
Scenario:
Monty is a middle aged paramedic and father of three adolescent sons. Two of Monty’s boys attend the local high school and his oldest son has just commenced his first year at university in Australia. As a paramedic, Monty has witnessed a number of young men experiencing negative health and social consequences after binge drinking. Although Monty is a non-drinker he feels powerless to stop this binge drinking behavior. Monty is particularly concerned about the effects on his youngest son. Monty is also worried that one of his sons or his sons’ friends will either get injured or into trouble with the law when they go out drinking. He wonders what the cognitive impairment of these drinking sessions might be. Monty also wants to learn more about binge drinking in adolescents and young men who attend university so he can attempt to educate his sons.
PICo question:
What do young men at university feel about binge drinking?
Evidence:

PICO question:
In young men how effective are motivational interventions compared to those who do not receive motivational interventions at reducing binge drinking?
Evidence:

Answer the following questions:
1. Discuss how Monty's personal circumstances may create a barrier for the application of evidence.
2. Discuss how closely the research aligns with the PICO question.
