Management and Business Context Written Report: Assessment work 1 Central Queensland University Case Study Report of Written Assessment 2: Analysis of Bunning Warehouse Student Id: 12049767 Student Name: Mohammed Raziuddin Atif The Bunning warehouse is the most famous company in the Australia who are the providing the warehouse services in the Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom. This company initiated their business in the year of 1887 at Perth, Western Australia. The company provides the goods and services for the home décor in which the customer can choose from the wide range of products ("Disabled worker fired, Bunnings Warehouse respond - Business - NZ Herald News", 2017). The company is performing the venture through the online services and the goods are stored in their warehouses. The Bunning is associated with the Westfarmers from the year of 1994. They are running their more than 300 stores with more than 30000 employees all over their branches. The Bunning is the venture which is known for their hardware products and services they are providing to their customers from more than one century. The Bunning warehouse is grabbing their feet on the success but there are some critical management issues which are facing by their employees (Patty, 2017). The management is performing many unfair traits and practices with their employees which are leading to the poor brand image in the market. In the year of 2016, many tragedies happened which shocked the reputation of the company. The employees and manager of the Bunning warehouse were faced bullied and they were terminated because they were not following the guidelines given by their manager. The employees were forced to hide their injuries from the top management and they were asked to give more work. The former manager Bruce Johnson filed a case against the Bunning warehouse that they are taking more work from him and they are not paying him for the extra hours. He was terminated from the company because he didn’t accept the unethical practice of the Bunning Company to abort few employees from his team. He was performing ethical practices in the company but they didn’t accept this behavior and terminated him from the company. Another critical issue came out last year is that the security guards of the Bunning beat the one of the shoplifters of their company so hardly after few hour he died and he was the only family member for his four-year-old daughter. The company didn’t admit their fault and they didn’t even respond to the media for their fault. The management was not giving their employees all the fair benefits which they deserve for their performance ("Bunnings 'thief' pinned down by guards said he couldn't breathe", 2017). The organization structure was developing with the planning in which ethical behavior for the employees is not considered in their structure. They are more working oriented organization rather than employee oriented. The organization structure of the Bunning warehouse has given the description of their working culture. There are many factors which affect the working of the company which can be critically analyzed by the SWOT analysis of the company. The SWOT analysis is the method through which one can analysis about the strengths and weakness of the company and help the company in analyzing on the future opportunities and threats of the company (Backhouse, 2017). The SWOT in which the strengths of the company are they are having the extensive network chain all over the Australia so they can easily avail their products to their customers. The next strength for the company is that they are delivering the goods and services at the fewer rates from their competitors. The growth rate of the Bunning company is generally high because of their services which are they are providing to their customers (Quesada, & Sanchez, 2010). The customers are gaining more trust in this name because this company is that they are delivering services from the past more than 100 years. The weaknesses for the Bunning Company are that the services at some point are not satisfying their customers through which they are developing the wrong perception for the company. The customers do not how to assemble the products. The behavior of the company towards their employees has to leave the negative impressions on the employees which can lead to high retention in the future ("Subscribe | theaustralian", 2017). They are not providing the fair remuneration to their managers and employees for their efforts in the company. The opportunity for the Bunning Company will be that they expand their venture in more countries to get more countries. The threats for the Bunning Company will be the competition from other domestic hardware stores. Another threat for the Bunning is that if they didn’t improve their behavior with the employees. The competition from the international companies can also produce threat for this company to survive in the competition. The Bunning Company is deeply analyzing their SWOT analysis on the basis of that they are developing their marketing strategies. The company has focused on the past year performances on which the basis developed their plans to make financial planning better for their hardware products (MIS100 2008: Critical issues, 2017). They were main aim is to create customer satisfaction level more in their customers. The Bunning were focusing on their investments as they were launching their business in other countries for the expansion. The strategy was developed over the period of to improve the performance of the company but their main business following standard is still same. The company is mainly developing the strategy to expand their business overseas. The strategy is covering all the facts which can take them to conqueror the competition from their competitors and make them alert for the consequences which can take place in the future (Mitchell, 2017). The initially developed the plan which was covering all the factors like which customer they are targeting and how they are going to approach their customer in the market and what will be the price strategy for their products. The Bunning were updating their information system as well so that they can avoid delays in their performance. There strategic planning in the company was making them aware that what kind of customers will go to buy their product and what qualities have to serve to their customers. They were planning to attain the sustainable growth and development in their business strategy because they know that the level of competition is going to increase in the future and they have to by well prepared. The company main plan is to gather information from the market and after that, they develop their plan. This thing helps them is taking them one step ahead of their competitors and get the edge over the competition. With the better strategies, the Bunning are making the risk are also becoming the part of their business. The Bunning is having risk on the branches which they are opening outside the countries. The risk of accepting the venture by the foreign customers and will earn the profit which is estimated by the company is a huge risk for the company. The company has to make the improvement in their system which can develop their level of customers. Another risk is that the employee’s satisfaction is decreasing with their increase in profit. The company is not developing the plans to increase the level of satisfaction in their employees (Markos, & Sridevi, 2010). The employees of the Bunning are frustrated with the decision of termination of their manager and they protested against the company to get their basic employment rights for their welfare. The motivation levels of the employees are decreased with the unfair trait and practices. By analyzing their risk factors the Bunning will able to focus more on the better implementation of the strategies. The business planner should make the way to cover the entire factor in the organization and to take strict actions against the people who are not behaving ethically in the organization. Those people are risking the brand image of the company as the company and they have to ask their employees what complication and problems and lead them to provide a positive work environment ("Subscribe | theaustralian", 2017). From the above discussion, it has been found that the Bunning company is able to last their business from more than over a century because of their business strategies (Dyson, 2004). The business strategies and organization structure which helped them in gaining profits and revenue in the long run. But from the past years the performance of the Bunning company is going down due to employees of the company is not satisfied with the working policies of the company (Nauta, & Willemsen, 2009). The company have to make improvement in their working policies and they have to decrease the working hours for the employees so that the satisfaction level in the employees should be maintained at high level and the reputation which the company is holding from past so long should remain same.
