Question 1: The assignment text says - "Assume for the purpose of this assignment that you wish to enter the world... by a) buying an existing business or b) buying a franchise. The task is to analyse a or b " My understanding is that we need to analyse pros and cons between the two - buy existing business or buy franchise. Answer 1: Yes, you need to compare buying a business to buying a franchise. Discuss the Pros and cons and your own personal preference but reference the material on characteristics of entrepreneurs and franchise advantages and disadvantages and buying an existing business. This assignment covers Topics 1 to 5. Then you would continue and address the three bullet points for the type of business you choose. Question 2: Then the text at the end says - "Provide recommendations as to whether or not you will acquire the business." Does this mean that there is a consideration in the assignment - Not to go ahead with any purchase at all ?! Answer 2 Yes, you can choose NOT to buy either but you need to answer all the three bullet points first. So give it your best shot, but if in the end you don't like either option it is OK to say so.(BUT MAKE SURE you justify all your decisions!) Question 3: Also, kindly clarify if this assignment needs to be written in the 3rd person or the 1st person. Answer 3: 3. Yes, you should use the 1st person because this is a reflective piece, including your own personal preferences. This means you can say “I …” or “We …” .
