Scenario
You have applied for a job as an IT consultant’s assistant. The consultancy specialises in e-commerce solutions. You have been invited for an interview and the HR manager has asked you to prepare and deliver a short presentation in which you will show your understanding of how a business is structured and operates. You will also have to submit a report on the benefits of an e-commerce solution to the company and a report on the global impact of e-Commerce on society.
Your company has been contacted by an organisation which is interested in such a system to increase its turnover. You have been invited for an interview and the HR manager has asked you to prepare and deliver a short presentation in which you will show your understanding of how a business is structured and operates. You need to be aware of how the organisation’s aims relate to the stakeholders.You will also have to submit a report on the benefits of an e-commerce solution to the company and a report on the global impact of e-Commerce on society.
You need to find and research a company that does not have an e-commerce solution and then research into how e-commerce has affected businesses and society.
TASK 1(AC 1.1)
In order to assess an organisation’s core business functions, you must:
1. Find an organisation that you are familiar with
2. Name the type of organisation
3. Identify the main business functions (departments of this type of business; and describe the objectives of each function e.g. Marketing, Sales, Accounting, Administration and Management Information Systems (MIS), operations.
4. Write notes on assessing (evaluating) how well the staff are meeting your chosen organisation’s objectives.
In the next task, you will have to write a report assessing the impact and risks that an e-commerce system will have on the organisation whilst considering the global impact this will have on society when introducing e-Commerce within the business.
TASK 2 (AC 1.2)
1.2 Evaluate your chosen organization’s business aims and show how these aims relate to stakeholders
a. Prepare a report of approximately 500 words suitable for a group of business people. Your report must include a brief PEST analysis with regards to the type of the organisation and use this to evaluate the appropriateness of the business aims.
b. You also need to provide an analysis of the extent to which the business aims relate to its stakeholders.
Identify the main stakeholders and identify each stakeholder’s requirements.
You then need to show the extent to which the business aims relate to the stakeholders’ needs.
TASK 3 (AC 2.1)
You are required to prepare a short presentation and supporting notes for the HR Managerincluding a clear statement of the impact of introducing an e-commerce system into an organisation that considers both the consumers and business as well as the risks that have to be considered.
TASK 4 (AC 2.2)
Add a second section to your presentation regarding the global impact of e-commerce has on society so that the organisation can understand the requirements of the public as a whole. The presentation should last no longer than 10 minutes.
