Instructions:
Students are to create a professional development resource for future EVM201
students. This resource might be a wiki, webinar, workbook, video or voice over
presentation, but needs to address a particular topic relating to Event Development.
The resource should be no longer than 1,500 words, or 8 minutes in length, AND
be supported by a two page descriptor outlining its use, value and purpose. Included
with your professional development resource will be identification of the learning
outcomes of the resource and an appropriate reference list. (NB. It may be most
effective to create a mix of two resources that work together to create the
professional development resource –e.g. short presentation and workbook;
webpages, with webinar etc).
Topics to choose from for your resource include:
? How to Recognise and Market an event to your Target Market
? Incorporating sustainable practices into event planning and delivery
? Funding Sources – managing your events financial wellbeing
? How feasible is your event … and why you really need to care
? Ethics – you’ve heard about it, are you applying it?
? Choosing and keeping the right Event Team
The goal is to create a resource that supports learning, either through face to face
delivery or self-directed learning that inspires engagement with the process. Aspects
to consider as inclusions in your resource development are:
? Summaries of important concepts, processes or ideas;
? Case studies or Snapshots of practice;
? Reflective questions and space for the learner to respond;
? Direct learners to additional information or useful resources;
? Surveys or questionnaires that inspire the learner to think and reflect on the
topic being investigated.
To note, your resource does not need to have an ******io visual component, but if it
does, remember there are multiple tools you can use to achieve this outcome. Digital
recording is one method of delivery, but equally you could consider using self-play
prezi or PowerPoint presentations with voice over to create a dynamic presentation,
use products like moovly to create an animated presentation or shape your PDR
around wiki webpages or through a workbook that guides student learning.
Regardless, remember the task is one that is framed by the content, not just the delivery so ensure the PDR is well informed and supported by theory and practice, not just visual appeal.
