ITEC602: MAN AGEMENT OF IT SYSTEMS
AND PROJECTS
INDIVIDUAL ASSIGNMENT
NUMBER FOUR
“IT PROJECT SUCCESS”
SEMESTER 1 , 2017ITEC602 ASSIGNMENT FOUR PAGE 2
INDIVIDUAL ASSIGNMENT
This assignment is only for ITEC602 students.
DUE DATE: 11:55 pm Friday, 9/6/17
CONTRIBUTION: 10% of Final Mark
(Exam Contribution for ITEC602 is only 40%)
YOUR CHALLENGE
You are to write a well researched and referenced essay (2000 to 3000
words) on the topic of IT project success.
Numerous complex IT projects suffer from planning problems, cost overruns
and even total failure.
What goes wrong, what are the factors that contribute to a complex project’s
success and how can the major risks be mitigated?
Use at least 10 references , half of which must be from academic articles .
These references need to be in addition to any class readings referenced .
Use the library’s physical and online journals.
Ensure that you use IN TEXT REFERENCING. That is, the part of your essay
that is based on a reference needs to be referenced in the body of the essay,
not just at the end. Feel free to use End Note to organise your inline
references. If you are citing directly from a reference, then you must use
quotation marks and inline referencing. It is usually better to paraphrase.
Plagiarism will result in a ZERO mark and possible failure of the course (more
than 30% similarity index). This includes close similarities in the submissions
of two or more students.
SUBMISSION
This is a Turnitin assignment. Submit your MS Word file using your student
number as the file name through the iLearn (class web site) Assignment Two
submission tool. Please be advised that Turnitin can take up to 24 hours to
