A. Assignment Brief
Task: Access UK are expanding and require a new member of part time staff (16 hours) to work in the warehouse. As HR advisor, you must respond to the request from the managing director and commence the recruitment process.
The brief provided to you suggests that the successful candidate will require G.C.S.E maths and English skills, and relevant work experience. The hourly wage will meet the minimum required by law.
The managing director has commented that he does not want to recruit a woman for this position, as women are not as strong as men are, and there is the possibility of her going on maternity leave or taking time off due to childcare issues. He also feels that disabilities of any kind will not be compatible with the job role.
___________________________________________
Element A): As HR advisor you must write a report (1,000 word +/- 10%) identifying the most suitable approach to recruitment and justify the recruitment and selection option chosen, including how the position will be advertised (UAC 1.2). A list of the steps to be taken (detailing the stages of the recruitment and selection process to be used, and required documentation needed) will be created, and the method of recruitment justified. This will include an evaluation of the different stages of recruitment and selection (consideration s of strengths and limitations) (UAC 1.1).
Consideration of the different staffing options available to Access UK, with a justified decision as to what type of contract will be offered to the successful candidate, will be provided (UAC 2.1).This will consider options such as permanent, zero hours and fixed term contracts. It is important that various options are evaluated (strengths and limitations in relation to the requirements of Access UK).
Element B): In response to the managing director’s requests, a detailed email (1,000 +/- 10%) words) will be written to advise him about the importance of HR legislation for ensuring good practice (with reference to current legislation)(UAC 3.1) and HR policies for good business practice (with reference to at least two key policies) (UAC 4.1).
Current and relevant legislation should be explored with examples of case studies or real scenarios to explain why legislation and policies should be adhered to.
