Contribution: 30% (30 marks) Course Objectives This assessment task relates to the following course objectives: b) Demonstrate an understanding of the different phases of the project life cycle including planning, costing, scheduling and controlling d) Demonstrate a working knowledge and understanding of key project management software applications tools, and techniques including critical path analysis, and PERT and GANTT charts f) Apply the principles and tools to monitor and evaluate IT projects. Rationale This practical exercise assesses students’ ability to apply theoretical learning to practical, real world situations. In this exercise students must complete an IS project plan, using appropriate project management tools such as MS Word, PowerPoint, and MS Project. Students should evaluate alternative courses of action and use MS Project to guide the development of their plan. This assignment provides students with the opportunity to demonstrate that they are able to:  describe the key elements of the IT project management framework, including project  stakeholders, the project management knowledge areas, common tools and techniques, and  project success factors;  explain the relation of the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) guidelines to  successful project management;  appreciate how IT project management begins with development of a good project charter Task Description This part follows on from the previous We Are Big Inc assignment case study. Now that the project sponsor has approved your Initial Project Plan (Assignment 1) and associated documents, you may proceed to the planning phase of the project by providing a formal project report for the project sponsor based on the following project planning documents.Assignment 2 – Formal Project Report ISY2004/ISY204 Information Systems Project Management Semester 1, 2017 Page 2 of 3 You may make any appropriate assumptions needed to enable the successful completion of the project. Again, make these assumptions explicit in your report. Use screen shots from your MS Project file. • Gantt chart • Identify at least eight milestones for this project using SMART criteria. • Network Diagram (Critical path diagram) • Resources table • Project budget, as calculated by MS Project • RACI Table • Identify 6 potential risks for this project and write the risk register for all of them.
