Research Project Design and Conduct Preliminary Problem Statement Introduction: This research is focused on the effects and consequences that have occurred on the health and wellbeing of the children of the tea estate workers who are living in the tea estate areas in the hill country of Sri Lanka. Tea plantation employees represent 6% of the national working population reference. Among them, 80% of them are withhave Tamil south Indian ancestry and they started establishing as plantation labours in the colonial era since 1871 (Ariyawardana, Sitheeque et al. 2007) . Among this Tamil workersthese Tamil workers, 95% are enrolling plantation workers such as tea Pluckers, factory workers. In Estate sector, still have shown a high level of poverty issues, undeveloped infrastructure. The domestic census and statistics report 2003 reference stated that the highest level of intra-sector poverty shown in estate sector as 30% while urban sector shows 7.9% in poverty line (Narayan, Pritchett et al. 2009). Moreover, the state sector shows low development in multi-level of poverty conditions in terms of health education housing and sanitary than other urban and rural sector. The domestic poverty of parents delivers their disadvantages for the children and reducing future opportunities develop their own human capital, productivity and also the growth (Saito 2003). This household poverty conditions may directly affect to children’s development and wellbeing of their future lives. Moreover, island wide the national health survey 2006-07 (ref) revealed that in state sector residence have shown significant downfall in the health indicators among children in micronutrient intake, BMI of children, access to the dietary protein and drinking water, sanitation, health care facilities (DCS 2009). ((DCS) 2009). However, Sri Lanka is recognised as a successful example who has completed many significant proportion millennium development goals (NDJ) related to human development (ref). UNDP health statistics 2016 ( ) stated that its Life expectancy at birth:75 years, infant mortality rate 8.4 per 1000 births, Infants lacking immunisation 1%, eradication of malaria and polio, deaths due to Tuberculosis 6.1 per 100,000 people (UNDP 2016). ((UNDP) 2016).Much recent literature fact that, there is an obvious contradiction between the Island-wide child and human development and Estate regions where the plantation workers children are living . For Enhancing enhancing and securing sustainable future human population in all over the country through developing Children children health care services and child development, it is worth important to identify the reasons and factors which minimise the children ‘s health in on estates.Estates. When studying about socio-economically differences and issues in the estate sector it is a very broad and complex. In this study, it is identified that there are few main objectives as a part of broad research about the estate Estate sector in Sri Llanka. • Ascertain the factors which children restricted from accessing good health. • Identify the partial answers to solve the health issues which minimise child development. • Find out the strategies to enhance children’s’ health.
