Project Brief - Student Retention System
Problem Background and Objectives: Melbourne Institute of Technology (MIT) is an educational provider and partner of Federation University Australia. Over the years, MIT management has held a few theories; from student demographics to attendance in both MIT and FedUni courses, but the organisation has lacked the hard data to prove conclusively what really drives retention. As a result, MIT has struggled to understand how to reduce dropout rates and retain students to ensure graduation. MIT management would like to review its existing retention policies and processes with an intention to adopt the world’s best practices in terms of efficiency, effectiveness and user-friendliness.
This project will enable integration of the existing systems such as AMS, MIT Moodle and BigFoot. This integration will provide MIT opportunities to formulate and enhance policies, which in turn will help in student retention.
Deliverables:
To help with this technological transformation, following deliverables are expected.
• Collate data, analyse and uncover hidden patterns and/or valuable information
• Use analytics tools to determine student retention policies
• Business Process Re-engineering
• Business functions, a detailed decomposition of major functional areas
• Change Management Plan (i.e., training/communication/stakeholder engagement & post-implementation review)
