Hello,
I am going to be away for the next four weeks and you will temporarily cover my role as Human Resources Manager during this time. I have a number of tasks that I would like you to undertake during this period to keep the momentum going with the learning environment project that we have developed over the past six months. A major feature of this project is to encourage a positive learning culture throughout the organisation, so that staff are well positioned to apply for promotion as new internal opportunities arise.
During my absence, there are two main learning programs that will need your attention:
• The IT department is now using new widget development software and the manager of the department has approached me about arranging training for the whole team to familiarise them with the package.
• The second thing that is required is the development of an individual learning program for Tracy Lint. Tracy needs to get additional formal training in customer service, so that she can be considered for promotion in the future.
In addition, I would like you to prepare a learning portfolio for your own learning for the four-week period.
You will find two documents in your in-tray that provide you with the information you will need about the IT department and Tracy’s situation. In addition, you will need to work through the detailed task list that I have prepared, which you will also find in your in-tray. I have provided a document with information about the BizOps Succession Management Scheme as an attachment to this email, other BizOps policies and procedures can be accessed via the intranet. You will need to ensure that your work complies with these, as per my directions.
