Evidence-based Writing #2: Marking Guidelines
For this EBW#2 assessment, you are required to submit 2 pieces of work (they should be submitted
in a single document). The two pieces of work need to be based on any of the four activities covered
in workshops 4 to 7 (see EBW#2 Assessment Instructions). Each piece is worth 50% of the total mark
for EBW#2 and will be marked individually according to the marking guidelines below.
Introduction and conclusion - 7%
A thesis statement is provided in the introduction
Outline of the argument structure is provided in the introduction
Conclusion summarises key points made
The argument - 25%
The argument addresses the essay topic
The argument is clear and logical
Assertions of fact are supported by credible evidence
A sufficient range of scholarly and non-scholarly sources have been used
Evidence is used effectively to support the argument
Evidence and formatting - 10%
Paraphrasing and quoting are used appropriately
APA 6th
citations are accurate
APA 6th
reference list is accurate
Presentation - 8%
Correct spelling, grammar and punctuation
Clear language, concise writing style and academic tone
Paragraphs are structured appropriately
Ideas are linked by transitions as required
Conforms to the checklist in the Assignment Instructions
