Assessment task 3: Design Project
- Project TASK: Design a gearbox and drive shaft for a 6-cylinder, front-engine, front-wheel-drive car. Differentials are not required; the car payload is given as 650kg. The gearbox must have 3 speeds with or without a reverse gear. Utilising FEA is encouraged.
Assessment
A word processing software must be used to prepare the report. The report must be presented professionally; works that are not up to standard will be rejected and mark deduction will be applied. Drawings must be presented in first angle projection using CAD software.
The report must include:
- A table in which names and percentage of contribution of each team member
- Timelines and tasks of each team member.
- Optimize design calculation using Microsoft excel (use trial and error method)
- Need to include design calculation
Use Autodesk Inventor software for design and Finite element analysis.
Note: Design of gearbox and driveshaft should be done based on design calculation.
