Introduction
Evergreen Cargo services private Limited is one of the most renowned and well known logistic service providers of Nepal, headquartered in Katmandu, established in the year of 1984. After conducting survey on the operational excellence of this logistic service provider it has been found that the company is facing issues in their supply chain management system. Supply Chain Management system is an important factor that is strictly required to be considered during the assessment of its functional components. In order to build secured relationship between the service providers and the consumers supply chain management system is referred to as one of the most important factors. As the SCM system of Evergreen Cargo service private Limited is very weak thus in orders to avoid these risks different Business Intelligence tools are needed to be acquired by the company.
1.1 Description of any changes or the current status of the project
In order to prepare the logistic problem mitigating project for Evergreen Cargo services all the business perspectives including the budget, time and schedules have been considered by the project development team. For developing any project and before implementing it in the practical field the project manager is needed to make a feasibility study properly. In order to develop any project the necessary phases that must be followed by the project manager includes project initiation phase, project planning phase, project execution phase, project monitoring and controlling and finally the project closure phase. This phase is basically about the project maintenance and post project implementation phase. In order to mitigate the issues of Supply chain management system is willing to adapt business intelligence tools along with its existing business system. Though a project schedule has been developed minutely but for the practical development, different time period has been allotted based on the complexity of the activities. In the initial progress period I have gone through the activities of the project initiation phase. The phases of the project initiation phase include:
Project request submission: In order to develop the project the project manager is needed to contact to the sponsors who will make investment in the project budget. In this phase the main issues of supply chain management system of Evergreen Cargo services private Limited are identified. After evaluating critically the Supply Chain Management issues of Evergreen Cargo service the management authority of the company decided to introduce business intelligence along with the existing system. Then they submitted this request to the CEO of the business organization.
Project feasibility study: After studying the Supply Chain management issues a feasibility study is developed to understand the resource and actual budget required for the project. Budget estimation is one of the most important factors that are strictly needed to be considered before developing any project for any business organization. AS the company deals to logistic supply chain thus for commercial benefit the company is required to gather all the resources, advanced technologies and server also for storing the sensitive information. Not only this, but also the company needs labor forces also.
Project case development: In this phase I have studies the overall case scenario and the purpose o0f the project mi9nutely to develop the case project appropriately.
On the other hand, after the project initiation phase the project planning phase is developed. In this phase the activities those are undertaken include:
Defining aim of the project: In this phase the project aim is needed to be determined by the project manager accurately. For this project the aim is to reduce the rate of issues in the supply chain management system of Evergreen Cargo Services and to implement Business Intelligence, for better decision making.
Analysis of the additional requirements: In order to add the business Intelligence, creation situational rather additional resources are needed. In this activity phase I have gone through those additional requirements.
Implementation of the business intelligence tools: Different business intelligence tools are there in the project management system. After analyzing the business processes, to gain insight in the behavior of the consumers and in order to convert data into valuable knowledge implementation of the business intelligence is important.
Data management: The data gathered from different resources, the information of the logistics systems and of the consumer’s information are managed in a well manner in this planning phase.
Defining mission and vision of the project: In this phase the actual mission and vision statement of the company is developed.
1.2 Schedule review
It has been found that in order to complete the project, a schedule has been developed. Even for completing the project proper time management is also required. I have gone through proper time management aspects.
1.3 Risk review
I have identified different risks in this project. While developing the project if it has been found that the Business Intelligence tool used for the project, is not at all appreciable then the cost estimated for the BI tool will be completely wastage. On the other hand if the project fails to estimate the actual labor cost then also it will be risk for the project. In addition to this if incorrect technologies are identified for developing the project then that will be another risk for the project.
Summary
From the overall discussion it has been found that in order to mitigate the supply chain management oriented issue of Evergreen Cargo, Business Intelligence tool will be incorporated in the existing business operation of the organization. The BI tools will successfully convert the information into valuable knowledge. In order to mitigate the challenges, I have created a schedule to divide the work load among the project team members. Apart from this the project also delivers effective time management, cost management and logistic functionalities to the consumers of Evergreen Cargo Services.
