Brief 2 - SuperNewMedia Ltd has been asked to design a website for SaveEthicallyWithUs, this is a new online provider of financial services and financial products such as pensions, mortgages and investment products.They operate in the UK, Germany and Denmark. They offer ethical financial investments and want to focus their marketing efforts towards a young generation of professionals looking for a pension, mortgages and other investments opportunities. They aim to attract young adult customers that might not be interested in other, more traditional providers and who are disillusioned with the traditional banking system. In order to do so they want a radically new type of online presence as opposed to the traditional design approach of most financial websites. They want an illustration-based interface with a main cartoon character to act as a mentor to the user, they have identified a well-known illustrator working for SuperNewMedia but based in Japan who should design this character. They want to increase awareness of the ethical banking system by publishing video clips to offer more information about the type of ethical projects they invest in. They want a highly usable and effective interface for their online banking facilities and interactive tools such as mortgage calculator plus a related mobile app, as well as social media tools, for example a Facebook ethical banking gaming app. They want (deliverables):  A multilingual website for SaveEthicallyWithUs to be produced in English, German and Danish  Translation and localisation from English into German and Danish  An illustration-based interface for the website with a main cartoon character to act as a mentor to the user, this character should be designed by a well-known illustrator based in Japan.  Effective interfaces for online banking facilities (but not the back-end online banking tools and systems)  Video clips showing some (5) ethical projects and companies they invest in, 3 of these projects are in the UK and 2 are in Germany and Denmark. SuperNewMedia will have to produce the videos including filming, editing and preparing the video material for web publishing  A Facebook ethical banking gaming app to increase awareness of the products offered  A Mobile app (iPhone/Android/Microsoft) with a mortgage calculator, links to the above social media tools and updates on the new financial products offered. About the project:  The Client is based in the UK.  The project must be developed in English, German and Danish.  SuperNewMedia will have to provide the translation and localisation of the project  The production of the entire project should be completed in 6 months.  SuperNewMedia must produce the media asset for this project Main target audience for this project:  Young adults - aged 18-30 years old  Potential first-time buyers and young professionals looking for ethical banking services in the UK, Germany and Denmark  Customers with familiarity with web-based services and online banking Stakeholders:  Companies and projects the Client is investing in and using as champions for their marketing campaign Please see the Production Plan Template below. The Production Plan Structure/Template You must use this template to write your Production Plan 1. Analysis of the key features of the project, of the client's needs and of the target audience. Assess and critically analyse the most important features of this project. Demonstrate awareness of the main characteristics of this project in relation to the client’s needs, the target audience, the current trends in the industry and the quality standards expected. 2. Gantt chart, time-line and task allocation. Submit a Gantt chart on Turnitin in the separate section titled “Gantt chart submission”. In the text here include a sentence like: “Please see Gantt chart”. No further discussion is required for this section. Please upload the Gantt chart in the file/format of the project management software you used to create it. This should be Microsoft Project or ProjectLibre (http://www.projectlibre.org/ ). 3. Analysis of software and hardware requirements required for this project (based also on number of team members). Add a table/chart matching each team member with allocated hardware and software. For an example of such table please see Seminar exercise in the week titled “Hardware and Software”. No further discussion required, only the table. No budget required. 4. Outline of team members (add a summary of team members and their desired skills plus their employment status as a chart/table. For an example of such table please see Seminar exercise in the week titled “Team Recruitment”). You should recruit a new team, you cannot use any of the existing SuperNewMedia employees. Identify the key team members needed for this production. Identify those skills/professionals that you will need for this particular project. You should provide this information simply by including a table/chart with a list of team members and their background, skills etc. For an example of such table please see Seminar exercise in the week titled “Team recruitment”. No further discussion is required in this section, only the table. 5. Discussion on recruitment strategy and outsourcing. Identification of need for freelance workers and subcontractors. Discussion of the recruitment strategy, including recruitment channels.  You should recruit a new team, you cannot use any of the existing SuperNewMedia employees.  In the body of the Production Plan discuss your recruitment strategy, provide details of recruitment channels/tools and of the advantages of using such recruitment channels.  Identify the possible need for subcontracting parts of the production to another company or to freelance staff. Outline which tasks or segments of the project you plan to outsource.  Discuss the benefits/problems associated with your outsourcing strategy. 6. Team management strategies and internal communication systems and strategies.  Declare and discuss your chosen management style.  Identify and evaluate the team management tools and strategies that you will employ during this production. This includes Project Management software.  Identify and evaluate your communication strategy: the communications systems/tools and the policies you will adopt to manage the team during this production, including strategies for team building and to support creativity. 7. Client management strategies.  Identify and evaluate the client management strategies that you will employ during this production.  Discuss the strategies and techniques for the client management cycle: from the definition of the brief, to approval procedures and to the management of effective communication with the Client. 8. Asset management strategies, digital rights management, copyright issues associated with the project.  Discuss your strategy for media asset origination and asset sourcing. Identify and evaluate the asset management tools and strategies that you will employ during this production.  Demonstrate awareness of the copyright issues associated with the project and of Digital Asset Management and Digital Rights Management strategies and tools.  Discuss any requirements for obtaining consent (for video and interviews for example) and any potential ethical issues in relation to media production. 9. Risk Assessment. Provisions for crisis and risk management systems. Assess the risks presented by this project. Add a table indicating the main risks associated with this production and the mitigating strategies to minimise or eliminate such risks. Quality procedures, testing and provisions for de-briefing of production.  Discuss your Quality Assurance strategies, including usability and technical testing and evaluation. Outline how you will implement quality procedures and testing including the potential use of subcontractors.  Outline and discuss your de-briefing strategy, evaluate the production process at the end of the production cycle. BIBLIOGRAPHY - you must include a bibliography IMPORTANT: You should provide a rationale for your choices and support your arguments with evidence of research/reading new media production best practice. You can include quotations from reading and you must provide references in support of your main arguments. Referencing your work - When you quote directly from any source, you must reference the quotation, including the author's name, date of publication and page number, in the text. This should follow the Harvard format and appear at the end of the quote in brackets. You will be expected to include a bibliography covering all of the sources quoted and the reading that has informed your work. Written work that contains neither referencing nor a bibliography will fail.
