Outline Cultural Competency: Purpose: The presentation focuses on the cultural competency and its importance. Thesis: Cultural competence is an essential ingredient that helps to create a positive climate. It is the ability to work effectively with people belonging to variety of culture, economic and most importantly religious and ethnic background. Introduction: I hope all of you are doing well. It is important to mention here that we shall discuss cultural competency and its relevance in today’s ever-changing world (Wright, 2015). Body: Main Argument # No 1: Norman-Major & Gooden (2015) suggest that we live in a cross-cultural world due to globalization. The cross-cultural relationship is the type of relationship where people from two different religion backgrounds can come together while having to adjust to each other’s culture and beliefs in order to maintain the relationship. If a person has experience with people from different religions or beliefs, it becomes easier for that person to deal with the situation because that person can understand the moral values and cultural activities of the other persons. Main Argument # No 2: To know about other cultures, we might ask them to whom or what they worship; what they consider to be lucky or unlucky for them; what are the rituals they follow in marriage or other ceremonies. According to Wright, cultural biases are common, and this creates disrupting situations among individuals. Main Argument # No 3: However, one can easily avoid these confrontations. To prevent such confrontation, it is important to research other culture’s religion and beliefs. It might not be possible to know everything about all cultures, but knowing the basic cultural facts will help one to create and maintain a good relationship with others. Personal Statement: Addressing diversity issues has always been important to me. Studying about different cultures and religions always helps me understand the way other people live in my country and the rest of the world. The best way to learn about other cultures is to interact with the people with different cultures. From my personal point of view, I would also like to say that when I gain knowledge about the culture of others, it helps me to understand the reason behind their regular activities; such as prayer, eating habits, and style of dress. Conclusion: So it is clear from the above discussion that the cultural competence is an essential ingredient that helps to create a positive climate. Having a mind open to possibilities is better than one closed by one’s beliefs. Gaining this knowledge will automatically help both of our organizations to build a strong partnership, to serve the people, we both desire to serve. Let us embark upon this remarkable journey together.   References Norman-Major, K. A., & Gooden, S. T. (2015). Cultural competency for public administrators. Routledge. Wright, R. (2015).
