Table of Contents Question 1 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY 1 INTRODUCTION TO TOPIC 1 LITERATURE REVIEW 1 Methodology and analysis 2 Conclusion 2 Methodology and analysis 5 Conclusion 5 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY The purpose of the report is to discuss and throw some of the light on research papers that have already been published in context of fast food consumption in Australian society. For this particular report the topic is pre-specified and that is influence of the fast food consumption on Australian society where number of research papershave been analysed and literature review has been properly analysed of the papers and new literature review has been developed on the basis of different published articles and journals so that one should be able to know what other authors think about the influence of fast food. Different papers have been analysed to better understand the influence of the fast food consumption on Australian society. INTRODUCTION TO TOPIC Topic of the report is to analyse the influence of fast food consumption on Australian society. Nowadays population is much more aggressive to consume fast food which includes ready-made food and ready to eat processed food. There are much of the hazards which comes along with processed food as those foods are high in the calories and if there is deposit of lot many calories in the body it will lead to situation of bad health and collection of calories leads to add fat to the body where lot many disease comes with the fat and extra calories which are deposited inside the body. LITERATURE REVIEW The author has argued about fast food where he has discussed what fast food actually is? He defined fast food as a pre-packed or ready to eat meal. The lifestyle of the people has been changed where convenient food is much cheaper and easy to have or consume. The number of fast food providers has been increased and such retailers are KFC, Pizza hut, MC Donald’s etc. food that is processed and available at major food retails are known as fast food and the ingredients that are being used in fast food are high in calories, salts and sugar which are not at all beneficial for the health of the population. Recent trends have shown there is increase in the consumption of the fastfood in Australian population where population of the Australia has increased the consumption of the same. What has been discussed in the article is the effect of increased consumption of the fast food where it is seen that the consumption of the fastfood has been increased by 8% this figure is associated with the consumption of fast food by children. The study has been done on the American population where trends have changed towards the consumption of the fast food. The study has analysed the effect of fast food consumption on the body weight. Author has investigated the relationship between fast food eating habits, increasing weight and insulin resistance. Author has also analysed the changing in trends of the consumption of fruits, vegetables, saturated fat and other nutrients which affects the body in either positive way or a negative way. Investigation has been done for more than 15 years and where the results were like this, individuals who were dining more than once in restaurants or fast food restaurants tends to gain more than 4 kg of the weight and this shows how fast food consumption is associated with increasing weight of the population. Along with increase in weight the increase in insulin resistance has also been seen. After analysing the reports and data collected over 15 years shows that there is a strong positive relationship between consumption of fast food and increased body weight and insulin resistance in the population. Now as discussed above, the author has argued about what fast food is, the processed food and increased consumption of the fast food is also associated with increased body weight, size of the individual and insulin resistance. Insulin resistance and increase in weightboth are very dangerous situation where increased weight is associated much of circulatory and heart related problems and along with this insulin resistance is a situation where organs tried and failed to produce much of the insulin which can cope up with blood sugar level of the body. Along with increased consumption of fast food there are two other facts too which are associated with increase in body weight and that are less of physical activity and television watching, in both of the activities there is less of physical activity and where individuals are sitting at one place for more time tend to have more weight or are more prone to gain body weight as compared to other individuals who are having more of physical activity. Methodology and analysis As far as the methodology is considered, the author has applied a systematic approach in organizing the data that has been collected through the different aspects. The author has divided the research into mutually dependent segments that help in the better classification of the collected data leading to higher degree of coherence among the facts that have been presented in the overall article. Qualitative data analysis has been applied in order to collect the data from the different sources. The author has also applied the implicit association tests in order to look in for the effectiveness and validity of the data that has been collected in this regards. The discussion made by the author in the analysis part is descriptive in nature and looks in to explore the issue in a manner so that it brings in the best of the results. Conclusion The conclusion drawn is totally based upon the analysis of the results that have been attained from the different sources. The conclusion made is related to the delivery of the results in the best manner with to the point discussion and evaluation made about the topic and the author looks in for the representation of the facts and the important concepts that have been founded in the above part with the careful analysis of the statements that have been presented in the analysis part. The author has very well summarized the gaps and the weakness on the research very well(i Fast - Food Consumption: Application and Extension of the Theory of Planned Behaviour to Incorporate Affective Responses and Implicit Associations., 2017). i Fast - Food Consumption : Application and Extension of the Theory of Planned Behaviour to Incorporate Affective Responses and Implicit Associations. (2017). 1st ed. [ebook] p.5. It was analysed that there are 17 major chains in this industry along with these number of chains there are more than 5500 outlets in Australia where there are also 18 minor chains which accounts for close to 1000 outlets. The choice which was on the top was hot potato chips. This was the most preferable choice of the consumers in this fast food market. Meat and fish dishes in non-veg food fruit and vegetables options along with prepared meals/snacks are the main players or options available in this particular segment. The size of the market is really great where there are n number of players and options available inside the market, this market is really competitive as discussed more than 5500 outlets which fights for the same set of the consumers. All of the above mentioned options are high in salt, sugar, alcoholic ingredients which leads to bad health where consumption of these kind of nutrients are not recommended by some of the developed bodies who works in the favour of welfare of the health of the society. Where author has also identified the high and increased consumption of the fast food leads to bad health where ingestion ad digestion both processes takes a lot of time in the case of fast food. Author was able to know who is actually the consumer of the market along with this who are the major retail chains who provide the fast food to the consumers and it is as simple who consumes the fast food are the consumers of the fast food along with this above mentioned some of the players are the providers of the product in this segment where big brands like MC Donald’s and KFC consist of huge market share and other players have few market share. It was also analysed that the fast food market is really very much competitive where number of players are fighting for the same set of customers. Due to high competitiveness in the market and number of options available for the consumer there is more chance of increasing the competition and where the chance of converting the customers and youngster is more it is associated with high risk where youngsters and adults will be consuming more of fast food will be associated with many of the diseases such as obesity, circulatory diseases, blood pressure and so on. Bad health and diseases are the influence of fast food on Australian society where increased consumption is directly associated with increased risk for the human body. Increased competitiveness and number of the players are the major reasons for the awareness of the fast food products where people accept these foods as the convenient and ready to eat food but the awareness of diseases associated with the fast food consumption is not much in books. If consumers will be able to understand about the risk associated with fast food the likeness will be reduced. In a food chat report it was discussed that Australian population aims at reducing and cutting down the sugar consumption where the motive is to reduce down the weight and maintain good health as increased consumption of sugary substance leads to add more weigh to the body of individuals. Where earlier Australian were aiming at maintain the health at good pace and most of the Australians aiming to eat more of the natural food, unprocessed and fresh food for the better management of the health. Along with this smaller portion of the meal and healthy snacks are on the priority. This aim has been made because health of the Australians has been negatively influenced by the consumption of the fast food where obesity is the major problem which is increasing at high rate with the consumption of fast food. It is believed by some of the Australians that healthiness is expensive where lot many Australians aims at reducing down and cutting down the unwanted nutrients, calories, sugar which leads to deposition of the cholesterol and calories in the body. Here major aim of the paper is to discuss how Australians are running far from fast food as of now they are much aware about the negative issues and bad health issues which are associated with fast food consumption. Along with this it is also accepted by the Australians that weight issues may increase and continue to be the problem for a lot many Australians. As discussed in lot many papers and literature reviews and in this review also that influence of fast food is negative on the health of the Australians and Australians have accepted the fact that two third of the Australian population use to snack in between the meals where earlier focus was majorly on having fast food and some of the other processed foods where now focus is shifting from fast food to healthy snacks such as fresh salad, fruits, vegetables along with this dried fruit and nuts are also in the basket of choice as for now. Because as per the studies now increasing rate of obesity and health issues have created alarming situation where Australians are very much aware now and wanted to change their eating habits for the sake of good health and aims at maintain good health. As, per the survey conducted for the report shows; that 40 % of the Australian population is now ready to shift their eating preferences towards the healthy diet. 40% of the population is ready to shift their eating preferences towards the fresh fruits and vegetables. 24% of the population is ready to cut down the excess of sugar and are ready to reduce down the intake of food that is high in sugar. 31% of the population is ready to cut down the size of the meal that they use to take. This shows the awareness and willingness to maintain good health in Australian population. Overall conclusion from this particular report shows that there is now much awareness about the increasing risk of weigh which is associated with consumption of fast food and how negatively fast food influence the health of the Australian population comes to this point where lot many Australians are aiming at reducing down the consumption of unwanted ingredients and reducing down the sugar and calories from their food and also aims at reducing down the intake of processed and fast food. As per the paper published on influence of the fast food, authors aims at discussing the negative or bad influence of the fast food where, as per the author fast food in itself means that the food that is prepared quickly irrespective of nutrients and good things added in the same. This term as per the author given to junk food or the food that is processed, pre-heated or pre-cooked. It has negative influence on the community including children, adults and teens. Basically it is a million dollar industry which doesn’t only affects the health but also affects the economy. Author aims at discussing the bad nutrition and other health affects which are caused by the fast food. It is being explored by the author that regular consumption of the fast food reduces down the intake of goof nutrition in the body of people who are consuming fast food on daily basis. In today’s era of having less time to every individual or Australian individual it is luck by chance to go to gym and spare time for the gym where consumption of fast food leads to obesity and due to less time or due to busy and hectic schedules people are not able to work out properly so that they can utilise the consumed calories and intake of energy. To solve this some of the fast food retails are also coming up with healthier options example for the same is subway which provides fresh ingredients such as breads and vegetables which aim at maintain good health. There are lot many options of choosing the bread in subway and that aims at reducing down the calorie intake of the people. Fast food industry has already influenced the health of the Australians in negative way where some of the options such as subway and some other brands show care for the health of the individuals and aims at reducing down the calorie intake so that they could help people to maintain their good health by providing required nutrients in the food they provide The influence of the fast food is a serious concern that should be taken care for managing the better health of the society. The bad influence of the consumption of fast food was not much earlier where nowadays some of the companies themselves aware about the calories and other ingredients in the food so that people should be aware about what they are going to consume and how that will affect their health, due to this reasons some of the beverages companies come up with zero fat, sugar free and some other variants for the health conscious consumers. Methodology and analysis The author has been consistent with the logical format that has been achieved and as such the methods that have been used in the analysis are consistent with the qualitative and the quantitative aspects of the research. The methods that have been used by the author are clearly defined and justified. The important details of the report have been framed in a simple manner and as such the research could be further used in order to derive results that could help in other forms of the research being carried out. Even though the data collected seems a bit difficult in certain aspects but the logics are well justified and described in this research. Conclusion The conclusions that are presented by the author are clear and consistent and in coherence with the research that has been done. The author has been successful in identifying the implications of the study. Also the conclusions that have been given here are supported by the results, the gaps have been very well identified with the solutions in order to fill the gaps. The author has been concerned towards a result oriented approach as far as the results are considered(i Fast - Food Consumption : Application and Extension of the Theory of Planned Behaviour to Incorporate Affective Responses and Implicit Associations, 2017). i Fast - Food Consumption : Application and Extension of the Theory of Planned Behaviour to Incorporate Affective Responses and Implicit Associations.
