Assignment title UNIT 1 BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT Purpose of this assignment The purpose of the assignment to help learners to build on experiences of studying about organisations and businesses. The learners will consider the purposes of different organization and influence of stakeholder and how businesses organize themselves through strategic planning and organization structure.
Scenario Know the range of different business and their ownership. Prepare a factsheet for your CEO. Your CEO will use this information at the meeting. You have been asked to prepare a factsheet on 2 businesses. Ensure that you have written a brief introduction to the topic and a conclusion. Your factsheet should include information about two different businesses.
Task 1 (LO 1) P1 (Factsheet)

Task 2 & 3 (LO2 ) – P2 & P3 (Report 250 words)
Scenario The learner is required to look at Impact College and Ryanair. The learner will be required to watch this youtube video “Organisational Structures” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Chb3Mk7wVVQ) and ( http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-22888304 ) in class and carry out research on Impact college and Ryan air and then complete the report
To achieve P2 & P3 learner will need to research the following for both companies (Report)
What do they sell (Product/ service) describe e.g. air travel / provide an education Organisational structure e.g hierarchy structure / matrix/ flat. What are the advantages and disadvantages of these types of structures

Task 4 (P4) Explain how the style of organisation helps your tow businesses fulfil their purpose (Report 250 words )
The learner is required to explain how the organisational structure and strategic planning help the businesses to achieve their purpose and aims
To achieve P4, the learner is required to research the following information in both organisatons: What is the purpose of the organistaion e.g. to create excellent shakes/ to provide good deals to customers Research the company aims, these will be different for private and public organistaions. E.g break- even, survival, profit, growth, etc What is their strategic planning process? What are the strategic aims and objectives? What are the mission statements and values of the company?
Task 5, 6, 7 (P2, M1, D1) (Report 200 words)
Explain the points of view of different stakeholders seeking to influence the aims and objectives of two contrasting organisations.
You have to prepare a report that present differnet stakeholders viewpoints that are involved in the business (Ryan air and Impact College). The report should include
a description of internal and external stakeholder a brief description of business viewpoints of internal and external stakeholders say how their view influence the purpose of the business
Task 8 (M1) (Report 200 words) Explain the points of view of each stakeholder
an explaination of different points of view of each stakeholder state the aim of each stakeholder is trying to achieve e.g. to maximise profit, or to minimise carbon footprint (refer to P4)

Task 9 (D1) Report (250-300 words) Evaluate the influence different stakeholder exert in one organisation
Guidance: The learner is required to write a report about how powerful different stakeholders and how they have influences the plans for the expansion of the organisations.
You need to produce An evaluation of the influence of different stakeholders A priority ranking of the stakeholders eg. 1-important, 5 least important A statement about the importance of each stakeholder and why you believe this to be the case.
Task 10 (P5, P6, M2 & M3) Report 250-300 words
P5- Describe the influence of two contrasting economic environments on business activities within a selected organization. P6- Describe how political, legal and social factors are impacting upon the business activities of the selected organisations and their stakeholders M2 - Compare the challenges to selected business activities within a selected organisation, in two different economic environments M3 - Analyse how political, legal and social factors have impacted on the two contrasting organisations.
Scenario Learner need to explain the influence of two different legal, social and political environments on the business activities of the organisation(s)
Leanrer will be given different organisation to focus on. To achieve P5, P6, M2, and M3, they are required to 1. Research their organisation e.g. Tesco 2. Scenario: Using the information you gathered in Task 7, evaluate how future changes in political, legal and social factors could impact on the strategy of each business you investigated. The evaluation should be presented as a formal document as it will accompany the report you produced in Task 10
Guidance: • Include examples of possible political, legal and social factors which could impact on each organisation’s business strategy in the future • Explain how those factors would influence the strategic planning of each business • Compare and contrast how each business would be influenced by future changes.
