Penalty for late submission A late penalty of 5% of the subject weighting for an assessment not the student achieved mark) will be applied per day or part thereof, unless prior arrangements are made and granted in writing by the subject coordinator.
Backup Students need to keep multiple backups as non-submission or late submission due to lost or corrupt files will attract penalties as detailed in the subject outline.
Group Formation: the group size must be finalised by week 5 (10/4). For a small class, each group can have four members and five members for a large class. All group members must be from the same class.
PITCH AND INVESTIGATE
1. In this assignment, you are required to work in a team of 4 or 5 to submit a proposal to your lecturer in week 8 for approval, a presentation in week 11 and a final report in week 11. 2. As a group, discuss and select one topic from the following seven areas. No duplicate topic or area is permitted in each class. The area of selection is based on „first come first served‟ basis and must be approved by your lecturer. Permission must be sought from your lecturer and the subject coordinator, with

an attached supporting document, should you feel necessary to investigate a particular topic that has already been taken by another group of students.

3. Once your lecturer approves the topic area, each group is allowed to proceed to generate ideas (use design thinking: empathise, define, ideate etc). Write down as many ideas as you can on a butcher paper and sticky notes (to be distributed by your lecturer) in week 8. This process requires 15 minutes to complete. 4. In assignment 1, you were asked to identify three innovation failures on a white card called “Innovation Challenging Failures We Must Not Ignore”. Next, each member in the group must present their white card to their group members for a 15 minute discussion and write down on a butcher paper and sticky notes(to be distributed by your lecturer) to decide on 2 major innovation failures the group has on the white card which foresee they can impact on your assignment 2 topic. 5. You are required to discuss the two major innovation failures in the group proposal which you need to submit to your class lecturer in class in week 8. You need to be practical and acknowledge that not all innovative ideas are successful; therefore, you are required to write and discuss two possible innovation failures that may prevent your idea being implemented successfully. Note: A good idea is one that contains proof of concept, is sustainable and has an expected longevity in use by stakeholders. 6. After the submission, your lecturer will email the group to confirm the approval of the proposal and to prepare the report to justify a quality metric/ method/ tool/ framework that is suitable to use and evaluate your idea. In case your proposal is rejected you need to rework and resubmit it to your lecturer until you get an approval. 7. The vendor is seeking a good proposal in each area and your task is to develop a budget for the product/service development with a suitable timeline. 8. Please refer to the marking guideline for items required and submit your final report to the lecturer in week 11. 9. In week 11, you are required to do a presentation and you will be limited to 8 presentation slides. Each presentation is 10-15 mins (including questions and answers). All members must present.

Note: 80 marks will scale down to 25 marks which is your final assignment 2 mark. Important Submission Instructions: 1. It is compulsory for each student in a team to complete and submit the team evaluation on SPARK. 2. It is also compulsory for students to submit a softcopy of their assessment to Turnitin (via UTSOnline) due on 29 May-1st June (depending on your lecture date. Turnitin will be opened one week ahead of the due day) 3. Print the answers and append the FEIT assignment coverpage. Staple it once at the top left side, and submit the hardcopy to their tutor at the beginning of the class time. No plastic sleeves/folders are required. Students need to make sure they also keep multiple backups in their possession, in the event that they need to resubmit. Students need to apply the following format in naming the assignment 2 report in a single file when they submit to Turnitin: Lecturer’s name+lecture room number+ group name or number + Assg2 For example, the lecturer is Bee Bee and the group name called Five Stars, with the following student ID: 12345678 will have the following naming for their assignment 2 file:

Assessments that do not comply with the submission instructions will attract immediate 5% penalty of the maximum possible mark (not the student‟s achieved mark) per offence. 5. Any issues affecting timely submission should be raised with the subject coordinator well in advance of the submission due date and time. 6. Assistance: To maintain assessment process equity and fairness, the instructors will not comment on a student‟s draft assignment prior to submission. The instructors may be able to provide generic advice on theoretical issues, structure, and expectations. Students are advised to raise any generic questions with the lecturer and tutors during class time so that answers are provided to all students in an equitable and transparent manner. 7. Students having difficulties with their comprehension and writing should seek immediate assistance from university support services such as HELPS well in advance of the due date.
