Life lessons are often accompanied by paradigm shifts. Using college-level writing s******s, prepare and write a 5-paragraph (minimum) essay on the following topic: life lessons and paradigm shifts as demonstrated by your pre-class reading (in this case, it will be on the book: Unfriending My Ex and Other Things I'll Never Do"). Follow the detailed directions below: READ THE BOOK: "Unfriending My Ex and Other Things I'll Never Do" by author, Kim Stolz. 1.) Making direct and specific connections with your reading, write a short essay about life lessons in your book and the paradigm shifts that occurred. 2.) Summary of the book-This should only be 1-2 paragraphs long. Use this in place of a standard introduction. This should be the “elevator pitch” version of the book. 3.) Body- 3-5 paragraphs. Make sure you cover the following things. 1. If you chose a work of non-fiction, what lessons did the author learn? If you chose a work of fiction, what lessons did one of the main characters learn? 2. What lesson(s) did you learn from your pre-class reading? 4.) Conclusion 1-2 paragraphs- How did the above lessons represent a paradigm shift for you and/or the characters. 5.) Keep in mind that a “lesson” has different meaning. Sometimes, the lesson is not really learned or fully understood until the book is finished. Sometimes, you may learn a totally different lesson than the main character does. That is fine. 6.) Avoid using more than 10% direct quotations from the book. Instead, properly paraphrase or summarize the text, making direct connections to your thesis throughout your essay.
