“Analysis of social media platforms used".
Basically, you can start by looking at the homepage of your chosen company's website first, as that is where you can usually find embedded links to their social media platforms. Once you have identified those platforms, please have a good look through each platform (e.g., what do key statistics such as "likes", "views", and "followers" tell you about their social media performance; what are the general themes (e.g., humour, news, nature) featured among text/pictures/videos posted on those platforms). Further, you may also research industry and academic references on what is considered best practice in terms of marketing through those social media platforms.
Hence, your analysis could focus on examining how effectively each of those social media platforms is being utilised by your chosen company, in terms of those statistics and themes, compared to the best practice and your chosen company's key competitors. You may also use screenshots to demonstrate examples about where those social media platforms are being used well and where they aren't.
Some students asked us where in the textbook they can find information about the four steps model. Please note that this model is displayed as Figure 9.6 on page 231, and described in the section "Developing a Social Media Marketing Strategy" starting from page 230.
Basically, in order to complete "2. Use of the four steps model" for your report, you need to answer the following questions:
1. What could be the typical behaviour of your chosen company's target audience? For example, what categories in Figure 9.7 would they fall into?
2. How has your chosen company been communicating with their target audience in social space? For example, has the communication been meeting the audience's needs?
3. How has your chosen company been engaging their target audience? For example, what tactics have they been utilising to induce the audience to take actions desired by them?
4. How has your chosen company been collaborating with their target audience? For example, have they been providing opportunities that allow company-audience cocreation of contents?
Please feel free to search for any relevant statistics, company/industry news/reports, or academic references to help you answer these questions.
