Weighting: 15%
Date due: Week 10
Word limit: 2,000 words
Purpose: to assess the following Learning Outcomes:

Your task: Students are to form groups of three to five members (may change depending on class size). A case study will be allocated to each group. Each group must identify the general management issues covered by the assigned case study, research management theories (especially those contained in the textbook), expert opinions and current management practice regarding the identified issues, and prepare for the presentation. Students must ensure that they apply the relevant management theories covered in this unit when analysing and recommending actions in their report. The completion of this report will be monitored in four stages.
Stage 1 – Each student in the group is required to read the assigned case study and bring a one page write up on the background of the case study to the tutorial class in week six. This will be checked by the particular tutor at the class but will not be counted for marks at this stage. However the completion of this stage will be counted in the final marking grid for allocating marks on individual commitment for group work.
Stage 2 – Each student in the group is required to bring a two page write-up which indicates how theories learned in class are applied to the issues identified in the assigned case study, in week seven. This will be checked by the particular tutor but will not be counted for marks at this stage. However the completion of this stage will be counted in the final marking grid for allocating marks on individual commitment to group work.
Stage 3 – Each student in the group is required to bring a one page write up of their recommendations for the resolution of issues identified in the assigned case study, in week eight. This will be checked by the tutor at the class but not counted for marks at this stage. However, the completion of this stage will be counted in the final marking grid for allocating marks for individual commitment to group work.
Stage 4 – A group meeting will be held in the week nine tutorial class to discuss and develop the final report which is to be submitted in week 10. Students must bring their individual write-up to the meeting and discuss, and combine their ideas into the final group report. Participation in this meeting will be observed by the tutor during the class, and will be counted in the final marking grid for allocating marks for individual commitment to group work.
