Introduction
In this research, the study will focus on the challenges in the UAE during the period when there was a decrease in the oil prices and the impact it brought especially to the citizens as well as the expats living here. UAE is one of the wealthiest countries in terms of growth in their economy particularly from due to their natural reservoir of the oil resources (Delgado, 2016). The country has also been hit with the decline with the oil prices that has affected many economies. The low prices have affected the country and this has resulted to the rising in the unemployment and the slash of the public spending. Additionally, this crisis has increased on the pressure to diversify the economy. This effect has been exhibited in almost all the sectors of the economy especially in the education industry (Delgado, 2016). This challenge has led to decrease in the high standard of the faculties in the learning institution; consequently, this has led to many children who are smart to immigrate from the UAE because the standard of service, which is offered, has deteriorated (Demeter, 2003). This would further influence the local UAE students who would no longer interact with the multi-nationality students who were from the diverse cultures to share what they have. It is important for the new generation to be educated to enable them to develop themselves. Education is a crucial component to any economy since it enables people to be civilized and without it, there could be no civilization (Demeter, 2003). When we are all educated, we are able to handle different situation that we face since we would utilize on some of the soft skills learnt (Peng, 2013). Education has been found to enhance as well as boost the creativity of the learners thus, they are able to attain on their overall education goals. It has been found to act as an important tool for the future research across various discipline. This research will focus on the education industry, which has been affected by the oil drops in UAE, and it will further try to highlight the result of this effect especially to the citizens and the expats.
Problem statement
The research problem on this study is to investigate the challenges of education in the UAE during the period of decline in the oil prices and the result it has brought to the citizens and the expats.
Research questions
To find out the challenges of education in the UAE?
To identify the impact of the decrease of the oil prices to the citizens and the expats?
To find out the techniques what makes the expats to stay in the UAE for longer period?
To find out the consequences of the drop of the oil drop in the UAE to the citizens and expats residents.
Primary objective
The primary objective of this research was to investigate the challenges, which have been exhibited in the education sector in the UAE during the decrease in the oil price and the impact on the citizens and the expats.
Methodology of the research
Research design
In this research, it will use the descriptive survey design. The descriptive research studies is designed in order to obtain much pertinent as well as precise data in relation to the current status of the phenomenon, which is the challenges exhibited in the education sector in the UAE (Demeter, 2003). This method helps to draw valid general conclusion from the facts, which will be discovered. Further, the descriptive research is aimed to obtain data that will be analyzed, patterns will be extracted and the compression made. The research will use the questionnaires that will consist with the structured and the unstructured type of questions. The target population will be used in order to describe as the complete set of the individuals, cases or perhaps objects for the common features that will be generalized on the research study results.
Research approach
The study will employ a deductive approach. The reason for this approach will be able to draw some hypothesis for the research under various notions.
Sample and sampling method
The research will use the random sampling method to be able to achieve the desired representation from different sub groups in the education sector (Peng, 2013). Further to avoid any biasness of the data the stratified random will be used where the respondent are selected through grouping them randomly and then selected from the population.
Data collection
The research will use the primary and the secondary data. The primary data will be collected through the closed and open-ended questionnaires. The secondary data will be gathered from the journals, websites, magazine and even articles that relates to this issue.
Data analysis
The research will be analyzed using both the qualitative, which is the descriptive data, and the quantitative, which is the numerical techniques (Herb, 2014). There will be use of the excel computer packages that will be used to analyze the data and then it will be presented in the frequency tables.
Possible limitations and practical implications of the project
Limitations
This research prove to be too resource intensive in conducting a full research to the education sector thus a counterfactual analysis and an attempt for comparison of the sector will require a lot of resources.
There would be likely be a lot of generalization of the sample population, which is selected to the whole UAE population.
There is also the time factor which limit to do a comprehensive research thus there is fear there are some parameters which would not be achieved (Thompson & Wissink, 2016).
Practical implications
The data from this research will reveal various practical applications worthy of the future studies. First, the research will help the current as well as the future generation to be educated, thus it will improve UAE significantly (Fuller & Porter, 1986). A happy and a stable life could be attained when individuals are educated. Education tends to play an important role in the empowerment of the individuals. There will be wonderful jobs and good social reputation that are some of the few advantages for being people that are educated (Herb, 2014). This research tends to use survey and questionnaire in order to understand the attitude and the value, which are related to the stated intent of challenges in the UAE during the period of decrease in the oil price. The completion of this research study will give insights to the educated people to be more aware of the consequences of the wrong or the illegal actions as well as their rights and the responsibility towards the society.
