Introduction
Motivation can be defined as internal as well as the external factors that generates desire and energy in an individual who are continually interested and are committed to a job, role or making an effort to attain the organizational goal. Kim & Lee (2008) define motivation as a desire for doing something. Similarly, Herzberg (1959) defines employee motivation as performing a job related action because an individual want to. Employee motivation can be divided into intrinsic and extrinsic motivation where intrinsic motivation is categorized by personal enjoyment, interest or pleasure and extrinsic motivation is driven by external rewards that can be money, fame, grades and praise.
Motivation and employee performance are correlated. Human beings providing services should not merely depend on number of people engaged, their work experience or qualification but remunerating them appropriately is of great importance. If an organization aim to fulfill its objective than the employee must be motivated in order to get the best result from them. Motivation is only that factor which can improve employee performance. Bateman and Snell (1996), believes that motivation is the factor that direct, energizes and sustains person’s effort in achieving the organizational goal.
Therefore, it has been challenging job for today’s management to identify motivational programmers which will inspire employee to improve job performance and organizational productivity. Today’s financial services industries are therefore acquiring various packages of motivation not just for retaining employee but also for achieving competitive advantage in the market

Literature review
In this methodology the researcher will have a depth study of relevant literature, and past research from the various sources, articles, journals, case study and different theories of motivation.
