Course Objectives
This assessment task relates to the following course objectives:
a) Describe and discuss how the Internet and e-technologies have influenced
organisational practices and how they assist business decision making and can
help build competitive advantage
b) Describe and discuss how particular e-technologies and infrastructures are
employed by business
c) Identify and discuss key issues associated with client-side and server-side
programming, database connectivity, and session tracking
d) Identify and evaluate threats and risks specifically associated with e-business and
the strategies for how these are managed or mitigated
e) Demonstrate an awareness and understanding of the social and ethical aspects of
e-business and e-technologies (including social media)
Overview
Consider the food supply market.
Select one e-commerce model
1. B2C – Retail supply of food to consumers being groceries, fresh food or cooked
meals
2. B2B – Business to business in terms of wholesalers supplying food products (or any
kind) to other businesses, including aggregators
3. P2P – The collaborative economy whereby consumers supply each other for
example with a home cooked meal
Choose TWO competing services (websites) in your chosen e-commerce model segment
e.g. Coles and Woolworths supplying B2C online groceries.
Your assignment is to compare and contrast your two chosen businesses and websites.

Tasks
A. Clearly state which e-commerce business model you have chosen. For each chosen
website report the business name, the homepage URL, and include a screenshot of the
homepage.
B. For each chosen website, in 1-2 paragraphs, explain why the website belongs to that
particular e-commerce business model.
C. For each chosen website, in 1-2 paragraphs, identify what you think is/are the principal
business goal(s) of the website.
D. For each website, consider the following attributes and assess them on the following
five-point semantic differential scale and, for each attribute,

reasonably expected?
22.Does the website provide a sufficient range of delivery options as could be
reasonably expected?
F. Compare and contrast your chosen websites: which website is more likely to be
successful than the other, and why?

Although this is a case study analysis, you should use references to support your
views.
You can use Chicago Style referencing with numbers, with a listing at the end of the
essay. Microsoft Word has an EndNote plugin that makes this style very easy and
clear to follow.
