Title: An Investigation of Risk Management Strategities for Supply Chain Management in Textile Manufacturing Industry.
Research Question: How Risk Mnagement Strategities critically evaluate a successful Implementation of Supply Chain Management in Textile Manufacturing Industry.
Introduction
In today’s Globalized World many Textile Industries are developing a strong supply chain management to achieve advantage over their competetatiors by reducing and managing critical risks involved in Supply Chain Management (SCM) to provide best quality services to their customers. The integrated Risk Management Strategities (RSM) are required to manage risks, maintain effectiveness and global complexities of supply chain in textile manufacturing sector to gain maximum benifits. The Current Condition of textile industry are analysed by concidering all related risks of supply chain management and successful implementation of improved risk management strategities in global context.
AIM
The Aim of this research is to propose a range of improved Risk Management Strategities (RMS) to minimise risk of failure in supply Chain management with in textile industry and also to emphasize importance of risk management strategities (RMS) related to supply chain process of globalized appareal industry.
OBJECTIVES
The Objectives of risk management Strategities and the measured performance needs to be understand in order to construct a successful supply chain for textile industry. The following key objectives demonstrate the understanding
1. To analyse current risk isuues in textile Industry
2. To understand supply chain risks in apperal industry
3. To Provide a critical review on (RMS) Risk Management Strategities
4. To build a successful supply chain for textile industry
5. To Collect Primary Data for risk management Strategities
6. To dicuss Sampling (Why Choose This)
7. To Analysed The results according to Project Management Methodologies
8. To provide Project Management Point of VIew
Research Methodology
The research methodology used in this thesis will be based on the qualitative data that will include project management methodologies and descriptive data.
Moreover, Research approach and research strategities are based on qualitative and quantitative concepts, which are regarded as the most relevant for this research.
The Risk management methodology involves the theoretical consistency to the conclusions and evidence from theory-building research.
Literature Rivew
Current literature about supply chain management describes several meanings of supply chain management (SCM). It becomes clear that there is not an explicit or unified description of supply chain in appreal manufacturing Industry. Especially the level of detail between the descriptions differs. For example, Mabert and Venkataramanan (1998) describe supply chain management as a series of units that transform raw materials into finished products and deliver the product to the customers. This is a typical ‘push’ approach, pushing the raw materials into the next processes of the chain, towards the end market. A more holistic approach is given in the definition of Harland (1996) who describes supply chain management as managing business activities and relationships within an industry, with immediate suppliers, with first and second tier suppliers and customers along the supply chain. However, the descriptions of supply chain management remain vague since it is not clear what is meant by ‘business activities’. It becomes clear how supply chain management evolved from traditional purchasing and logistics function into a broader strategic approach to materials and distribution management known as supply chain management (Tan, 2001).
Evolution of SCM in Textile Industry
Resources
Supply chain in textile is characterized by the flow of textile goods, services, money, and information both within industry and outside business entities including suppliers, manufacturers, and customers. It also includes all types of services engaged in transportation, warehousing, information processing, and materials handling. Sourcing, procurement, production scheduling, manufacturing, order processing, inventory management, warehousing finally, customer service are the functions performed throughout the supply chain. The ultimate goal of SCM is to meet customers’ demand more efficiently by providing the right product, in the right quantity, at the right location, on the right time, and in the right condition.
Limitations
Findings
In this thesis, it is expected that there will be a project management point of view for improving supply chain management in textile industry by successful implementation of risk management stratigities in the same context.
Conclusion
In this dissertation, detailed evaluation of risk management startegities will be provided and whether there are any possible required solutions for the textile industry’s supply chain to manage maximum potential by minimising risks.
