Here is the plan which confirmed from my tutor. Your title should be: "Understanding patterns of challenging behaviour in young people with autism spectrum conditions" I think that you have the right ingredients in your plan but I would suggest a rather different order. I am not sure what you you intend to include in your introduction, but you ought to explain here why this topic is of interest to you. A discussion of concepts relating to challenging behaviour and autism might then follow. After this I would suggest that you use the definition of autism to explain why it is likely that people with autism may present with patterns of behaviour that challenge others. It can be argued that the patterns of behaviour relate directly to the underlying differences that define autism. Then you might conduct a review of the literature about this topic citing search engines and terms used - you will remember there was talk about searching literature at the weekend conference. The impact of challenging behaviour on others might also be included here. I would then suggest that you look at relevant policy /guidance that addresses challenging behaviour generally before citing the personal experience of your colleague (as we discussed in the tutorial) and steps that may be taken to address the behaviour within policy guidelines. You may find the NICE 2013 guidance helpful here. You may then wish to discuss in the concluding section what you feel that you have learned from exploring this topic that may be relevant in your future career and what you have learned from attending the workshops that formed part of the weekend conference and how, if appropriate, you have used the approaches discussed. In the picture is an example plan how need to do it. 1465980_615429148_plan.jpeg I am sending you and the feedback of presentation and 1000 words Is important for the assignment. Relate this to your practice rather than the theory. This reads more factually rather than reflective. There is a lack of first hand knowledge, and it would be nice if you could find some relative practice and understanding to this. If you have access to someone who works with people with autism (which we believe that you have), it would be nice to refer to something or someone specific. Update definition of Autism. You start by acknowledging that the definition of autism has changed over time, but this might be expressed more succinctly and reference made to the most recent definition in DSM-5. Under DSM-5 subgroups such as Asperger’s syndrome have been removed (slide 2) Draw upon something and reflect on this, place it within a context and explore it. Eg shouting – acceptable at a football match, but not in a lecture hall. What is challenging will vary with context Perhaps you can acknowledge that you have less direct experience, how would this knowledge impact on you now… Scope to think about whether this would be the group of young people that you would like to work with – what qualities would you need? Why is your interest in this area? Policy – you might want to look at more specific policies that relate to challenging behaviour Link approaches to the key aspects that define ASC Your notes need to expand upon the information given on the slides
