Assignment 3. PLEASE NOTE THIS IS AN INDIVIDUAL ASSIGNMENT Your essay title is “Explain how your scientist changed the world”. Make sure you talk to your group and the teacher and ideally each of you focus on a different aspect in order to broaden your groups research and make the presentation easier. This essay will be used as extra research for the presentation which is Assignment 4. It should be between 800-1000 words and contain references and citations. It is an individual assignment. Marks will be awarded for a well-structured essay, containing an introduction, middle and conclusion. It should be well written and well presented. It should have citations and references as appropriate. It should be submitted through TurnItIn. Marks will be awarded as follows: Clear Introduction (5 marks) This section must introduce the topic of the essay and briefly describe what the essay will cover. Main body – well explained (15 marks) Most of the material should reflect a comprehensive understanding of the subject involved. It should be accurate and free of errors. Conclusion (5 marks) The conclusion must summarise the important points of the essay. Good English (spell checked and good use of basic grammar) (10 marks) A good range of grammar. Simple sentence structure that does not impede intelligibility. Good spelling. Citations and References (5 marks) All information sources must be cited in the text, with full reference details at the end of the essay. References used must be from a range of suitable sources with scientific credibility. Presentation (10 marks) You should use one font only. Have margins, double spacing, page numbers in footer and a header containing your name and Study Skills Class. It will be submitted through TurnItIn. Please note that you can do this as many times as you want. But make sure you leave plenty of time to get the report back. In busy periods it can take 24 hours. Do not hand anything in that has any similarities to any other source (as shown in TurnItIn). Essays with blocks of similarities will lose marks OR will need resubmitting and capped at 40%. Submission by 5pm Friday 16th June 2017. Late assignments will be capped at 40%.
