1. What is this course about?
1.1 Course description
This course will help you gain insights into the behaviour of yourself and others in organisations. You will
explore behaviour in organisations across a range of different dimensions including motivation, decisionmaking, leadership, organisational structure, power and politics, culture and change. The course covers
the management of organisational behaviour at the individual, group and organisational level and
presents the key conceptual frameworks used to analyse, comprehend, and explain how people behave
in contemporary organisations. An understanding of these frameworks, models and theories is
considered essential for managerial practice.

Assessment Task 1: Online discussion
Goal: The goal of this assignment is to support your ability to share opinions and arguments
based on research on organisational behaviour. This individual-level assignment requires
you to respond to other discussion forums on-line and to facilitate your own forum. You
are required to submit a summary of your own forum accompanied by relevant
literature.
Product: Written online response.
Format: You are required to participate in online discussions and debates with other students
throughout the session. This session is supported on blackboard discussion board.
Criteria This individual-level assignment requires you to respond to other discussion forums online and to facilitate your own forum. You are required to submit a summary of your
own forum accompanied by relevant literature. Specific assignment criteria will be
provided at the beginning of the course as it may vary depending on the number of
students enrolled.

Goal: The goal of this assignment is to advance your understanding of management theories,
tools and practices by investigating a specific management issue in depth. You will
apply contemporary theory on organisation, outline the various dimensions of
organisational and employee behaviour, consider multiple theoretical perspectives,
consider workplace diversity and reflect on your own and future management practice.

Assessment Task 3: Case Study Analysis
Goal: The goal of this assessment is to encourage the student to incorporate multiple course
concepts in an applied way.
Product: Report.
Format: Case study analysis.

5.3 Additional assessment requirements
Plagiarism
In order to minimise incidents of plagiarism and collusion, this course may require that some of its
assessment tasks, when submitted to Blackboard, are electronically checked through SafeAssign. This
software allows for text comparisons to be made between your submitted assessment item and all
other work that SafeAssign has access to.
Eligibility for Supplementary Assessment
Your eligibility for supplementary assessment in a course is dependent of the following conditions
applying:
a) The final mark is in the percentage range 47% to 49.4%
b) The course is graded using the Standard Grading scale
c) You have not failed an assessment task in the course due to academic misconductPage 5

5.4 Submission penalties
Late submission of assessment tasks will be penalised at the following maximum rate:
• 5% (of the assessment task’s identified value) per day for the first two days from the date
identified as the due date for the assessment task.
• 10% (of the assessment task’s identified value) for the third day
• 20% (of the assessment task’s identified value) for the fourth day and subsequent days up to
and including seven days from the date identified as the due date for the assessment task.
• A result of zero is awarded for an assessment task submitted after seven days from the date
identified as the due date for the assessment task.
Weekdays and weekends are included in the calculation of days late. To request an extension you must
contact your course coordinator to negotiate an outcome.
