Case Study - Enabling Digital Policing Kent Police Force in UK needs to implement significant cost reductions and is looking for IT to help reduce total cost and improve efficiency. Specifically an objective is to reduce the admin overhead of front line officers and enable them to be more effective in their Policing role. The Strategy is to enable ‘Mobile Policing’. The case study team will be IT consultants who will recommend the IT Strategy required. The study team will need to understand the existing operational business processes and IT applications and establish opportunities to optimise the processes and procedures enabled by IT and identify the business benefits. This study will need to research and recommend the appropriate technical architecture to support the future IT Applications. This includes: Mobile Technologies Data Centre requirements The WAN and LAN networks The Security Environment Cloud Strategy Any other new IT Technologies that could provide business benefit. The research should also identify next generation technologies with their advantages and disadvantages. Compatibility and Flexibility should be considered including the likely timescale for the widespread adoption of these technologies.
