Instructions:
Critically identify, analyse and evaluate improvement opportunities for a service
organisation of your choice, using material from your visit (the Self-paced
Activities), in-class studies, and data from the chosen company. Using this
information, write a project report to management, outlining the complete project
findings, your recommendations for improvement, and your justifications for
those recommendations.
Of particular importance in this assignment will be your demonstrated ability to
research relevant and reliable academic sources to support your arguments, to
write in a formal academic style, and to communicate well.
There are four main criteria for success:
1. Understanding:
Your report should demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the organisation,
its services and service issues.
2. Substantiation:
Your report should be underpinned by subject material and additional readings
around the topics chosen and tools employed.
3. Insight:
Your report must demonstrate critical evaluation and insight into a particular
service situation.
4. Clarity and structure:
Your report should be clearly structured and well presented.
Things to note:
You must inform the lecturer of your chosen organisation by week 6.
Be particularly careful to avoid plagiarism. Plagiarism is passing other people's
work off as your own. Penalties for plagiarism are heavy and may include failure
in the subject. Students must follow the format for APA referencing as laid out in
the ICMS Style Guide.
This is a Report NOT an Essay. It should incorporate the following:
The Cover Page
An Executive Summary of 200 words (not included in the word
count; this is not to be called an Abstract as this is a business
report)
An Introduction of 200 words (included in the word count)
Headings and sub-headings (in APA 6 style)
A Conclusion of 200 words
In-text citations in the APA 6 Referencing Style
A correctly written Reference List (not a Bibliography) in the APA
style of referencing, incorporating at least ten (10) sources both
academic and business
At least one (1) item of primary research to be included in an
