GUIDELINES FOR THE ASSIGNMENT
It is a simple essay structure with two sections.
In these last six months, you have made enormous strides in your career as a HR professional.
You pulled off a tremendous project for a high-profile organization, which caught the attention of
Detoille, and you produced a sophisticated and thoughtful report on the ethicality of their HR
practices.
Due to your unprecedented success as an HR practitioner ,the Australian Human
Resources Institute(AHRI) invites you to write a reflective essay drawing on your experiences to
be published in the magazine.
YourTasks
1. Drawing on the records of your learning, briefly describe how your understanding of
HRM has changed throughout the last six months in your own words (300 words).
2. Critically evaluate of what is lacking in HRM practices today based on the readings and your
additional research and/or your work experience, from the employee and management point of view
(including Organizational effectiveness)
This needs to be your viewpoint backed up by evidence. I would expect you to highlight examples from
any three topics we have discussed.
Eg Ethics, Diversity, Culture etc
Other aspects that could be considered are Technology/social media, approach to bullying and
innovative cultures etc
Maybe consider what has been in the News of late. Eg How do large respected companies like CBA find
themselves defending unethical practices on customers and employees ??? What has gone wrong ??
