Referencing Styles : APA You are registered in BUS1BAN. The subject focuses on two graduate capabilities: information literacy and inquiry/research. This assignment focuses on assessing the quality of your learning and its application in real world business research at introductory level. The assignment requires you to apply the analytical techniques taught in this subject to data collected through a survey. Lectures, tutorials and pre-tutorial quizzes will allow you with the opportunity to learn the analytical techniques to successfully complete this assignment. All assessments in this subject are designed to promote your understanding of the material covered in this subject and will prepare you for the final exam. Project Title: Understanding the market for soft drinks at La Trobe University La Trobe is a large university attended by thousands of students every day on week days. The purpose of this project is to understand the students’ soft drinks market at the university. The market for drinks is measured in terms of 375ml cans. This type of project requires researchers to (1) design a survey questionnaire, (2) select a sample of the population to interview, (3) conduct the interviews, (4) analyze the data collected, and (5) prepare a written report. For convenience, the subject coordinator designed a survey questionnaire (attached to this assignment) which will be used by all students. Moreover, since it is impossible to interview every student visiting the university, the subject coordinator proposes that only BUS1BAN students should be interviewed. And, to make life easier for all, all students are required to respond to the survey online on the subject web page. The data will be provided to students for analysis. What should you do? 1. Respond to the survey online on the subject webpage (all BUS1BAN students are required to complete the survey by 5pm, Friday March 13). Your responses will be completely anonymous (this is a standard requirement for all surveys). Once the online survey closes, the lecturer will export the anonymous responses to an Excel file. Your project group will be provided with a random sample of 100 responses for analysis. 2. Form a group of 3 students for the project. You must finalize and register your group members with your tutors by Week 3 (Tutorial 02). 3. Analyze the survey sample provided to you as a group. The best way to do this will be to convene a meeting after each tutorial and discuss how you could apply the analytical techniques covered in the tutorial on the survey data. The Group Activity Log Form formally requires you to do so and has implication for the marks you may score in this assignment. See the Group Activity Form for details. 4. Submit the following: a. A group report of around 1000 words (excluding tables and graphs) using Turnitin on LMS. The report must summarize the outcome of your analysis in an academic language. You must also critically evaluate the survey technique used in this assignment and discuss whether or not the results are applicable to all students in the university. b. A group activity log: You need to maintain a group activity log on the “Group Activity Log Form” which keeps track of every student’s involvement in the project. The form is attached with this assignment. Submit a signed copy of the group activity log to your tutor in the tutorial in week 12 (May 18-22). c. An individual response to the following question. Suppose a total of 20,000 students attend La Trobe University every week comprising of 10,000 local and 10,000 international students. The university expects this number to increase to 25,000 next year (comprising of 10,000 local and 15,000 International students. Using your survey results, calculate the impact of this change on aggregate consumption of soft drinks at La Trobe. Submit the individual assignment to your tutor in the tutorial in week 12 (May 18-22).
