Referencing Styles : AGLC The doctrine of separation of powers is generally regarded as an important element of modern, democratic systems of government. Explain the doctrine of separation of powers, including the elements and how they work together, with reference to the Australian Constitution. 500 words +/- 10% allocated to this section of the essay. There has recently been a proposal to give the Minister for Immigration power under legislation to revoke citizenship of dual national citizens who fight with foreign terrorist organisations. Please read the two news reports provided that discuss the proposed new legislation. Discuss how the proposed legislation fits with the doctrine of separation of powers. 500 words +/- 10% allocated to this section of the essay. Essay Details: 1. You are expected to use at least 6 and no more than 8 current Australian sources or business law texts in researching your answer. Only Australian sources should be used and do NOT use the Internet / web based searches or the prescribed text as your sources. 2. The essay must be word processed in MS Word (.doc or .docx format). Files submitted in any other format, including .pdf or .zip will not be marked. 3. The first page of your file should be a title page with the essay title, your name and student id. 4. The word limit is 1000 words +/- 10%. The word limit (count) should not include the list of references, footnotes etc. 5. The Australian Guide to Legal Citation style of legal referencing must be used. Note that this is different to the Harvard style that you have used in other commerce units. There are strict “rules” about citations and referencing that you need to follow. There are rules about how cases and legislation must be cited. There are also rules about the format of citations, particularly that references should be in footnotes and NOT in the body of the essay.
