Assignment 2: Reflection paper on technical skills development.
Worth: 10% of grade
Due date: Week 10 (As specified by instructor)
Purpose of the Assignment:
The purpose of the assignment is to reflect on the technical skills developed on your work term.
In this assignment, you will be writing a series of reflections on the technical skills that you are
learning and developing during the work term.
By completing this assignment, you will be able to articulate these skills to future employers in a
way that highlights your capabilities; for example, critical thinking, and ability to communicate
clearly, and utilize complex technical problem solving skills.
Instructions:
Write a reflection paper on the technical skills that you are learning during your work term. You
will need to identify a technical task or problem that you faced during your work term and how
you gathered information about the problem, in addition to outlining your approach to solving the
problem.
The reflection paper should contain a brief description of what you are learning during your work
term and a discussion of how the work experience relates to your academic program. Reflect on
how the work experience reinforces or contradicts what you learned in the classroom.
The paper will be 500 words, 12 point font, type-written, double-line spaced, one inch
margins all around.
The paper should be saved as a Word document and uploaded to the eCentennial drop
box by the due date specified by the instructor.
Evaluation Criteria:
The work term assignment will be evaluated as a professional document. Your work will be
evaluated for the organization of your response, clarity, critical analysis, and requires complete
responses to all the questions.
Students should refer to the assignment rubric (found on e-Centennial) for clear guidelines on
how their work will be assessed.
