As you work on these, keep in mind Taylor & Bogdan’s (1998) guidelines for discovering meaning in qualitative data, duplicated here in modified form: • Read and reread your data. • Keep track of hunches, interpretations, and ideas, using memos. • Look for emerging themes. Using those themes, construct at least 3 typologies and/or matrices, tables, and diagrams, using the guidance provided in the readings. • Develop concepts and theoretical propositions from your themes, memos and/or codes of your data. VERY IMPORTANT. • Once you are close to finishing your analysis, find two articles in journals that help you understand what you have learned. These may be related to your theory and ideas about the document, to the context, events, and persons in the document, or to questions you have about the meaning of the data. Write a discussion of the relationship between the articles and your analysis. Write a paper, no longer than 8 pages, double spaced, APA, excluding references, that summarizes your analysis.
