Implementing Information systems for driver safety of, and package delivery by, a transport company with
a fleet of trucks
A transport company has to update its information systems due to driver safety and delivery concerns.
Drivers have to travel a long distance in some cases and may become very tired. Driver fatigue can result in
injury to the company's drivers as well as others on the road. As many packages are transported every day,
there are also concerns that some items may be lost or not delivered on time. The Chief Executive Officer
(CEO) would like to have the latest information systems for tracking goods, limiting driver fatigue and
maintaining driver safety.
The CEO is wishing to understand the feasibility of upgrading the current business systems over the next year
and how to maximise benefits, minimise costs, and mitigate risk.
Write a report including
1. A brief introduction (approx.100 words)
2. Components of a feasibility study, i.e. technical, economic and behavioural, required
for the tracking, driver fatigue and safety information systems (approx.100 words)
3. Appropriate information systems and examples for the transport company (approx.
200 words)
4. Benefits and risks related to purchasing and using the new systems (approx. 200
words)
5. The best method (parallel, phased, pilot or direct) for implementing the new systems
suggested for the transport company. Implementation methods can be either parallel,
phased, pilot or direct. (approx. 200 words)
1. A plausible time frame for implementation (approx.100 words)
2. Conclusion and summary (approx.100 words)
