Your job is to complete one of the following research questions:
(Please remember that you are to only answer one question)
1) The digital divide is a gap many influential bodies are trying
to close. How many so called solutions have actually worked
and have successfully made permanent positive change in a
region. Use supportive evidence in your argument.
2) Now that you have a deeper understanding of society's
relationship with IT from ISYS100 what do you think is the
biggest issue we need to address when it comes to information
technology? Discuss solutions to this issue with supported
evidence.
3) The information revolution of the last decade has meant that
there are so many more powered devices in our homes and
lives. At what cost is this increase to our environment?
Furthermore, are there any companies or organisations trying
to offset this somehow?
4) Social Networking has been around long enough to consider
the positives and negatives that it provides to society. Use
recent events to discuss cases from the last 2 years.
5) Google is always trying to "push the envelope" when it
comes to gathering information about you and me, explain how
this can have a positive and negative effect on society.
6) There have been many instances of internet censorship
failing to work. Discuss some of these and the reasons for the
failure.
7) We live in a world where the internet plays a pinnacle role in
our day to day lives. Discuss how the internet has impacted
information privacy.
Submission Details:
You will need to submit your paper to turnitin before
submitting it in the submission boxes in e6a.
(NB. It takes 24 hrs in most cases to receive a response from
turnitin)
Remember your research paper must be your own work. Therefore,
your research paper must be submitted to Turnitinvia our ilearn
page first then a hard copy.
Please note that when submitting your research paper in hard copy
you must include the following:
Turnitin% (you can print screen this)
MQ cover sheet with student ID number, tutorial/class etc.
Link available on ilearn to generate the coversheet
Any submission not containing a cover sheet and turn it in %
will not be considered for marking.
You are responsible for assessing its level of plagiarism. Although
you can submit the report to Turnitin as many times as you like
before the due date, only the final submission will count to Turnitin.
Any Turnitin Report with 15%+ plagiarism will be carefully reviewed
and marks deducted equivalent to the percentage.
Research Guidelines:
- Word Length: Approximately 2400 words
- 1 ½ spacing. (Paragraphs)
- 12 pt font
- Single Sided Paper
- Verdana
- Referencing Style: Harvard or APA is satisfactory.
- Please remember that you will need to have at least Four (4)
varying references. For example: Journals, WebPages,
Newspaper articles and Text books
- You will need to include: Reference List and an Appendix.
- You must include a coversheet that is available on ilearn
No exceptions will be granted. Any late research paper will
receive a 10% penalty per business day. Anything later than
4 business days will not be marked.
