As you know, the assessment method for the Research Methods for Business and Management module consists of two sections: Coursework A, amounting to 20% of the overall mark, and Coursework B, which will provide 80% of the overall mark.Please refer particularly to pages 15, 16 and 17 of the module guide and the pages thereafter, for more information. Also look at Section 7 - assessment criteria and marking standards.For ease of reference, I have listed the key areas to be included in the proposal:1) Title: Initially, this can be regarded as a working title, and ideally should mirror closely the content of the introduction. The title is particularly important, as it should grab the reader's attention.2) Introductory part: This informs the reader of the problem or situation, and its context that you are interested in. The goal is to give the reviewers some basic academic information they can use to evaluate the significance of the research proposal.3) Rationale for this study:What is the research issue?Why is it an issue, and why now?How and when is it going to be investigated?What could this research shed light on?You are required to introduce the topic, and clarify the significance of what you are trying to present. That is, you will need to present research questions with a logical sequencing of facts. Give examples that illustrate your rationale, and write a conclusion with a persuasive take-home message that summarises why your research is relevant now, and which issues it could produce valuable insights into.Your introduction should be constructed so that it presents information in a self-explanatory manner. You could think of the introduction as a well-organised and concise synopsis of the research project, which contains just enough information to get your point across.4) Include references: You are required to identify previously conducted research in the area that you are focusing on.
