SkyView Technologies is a reputed Quadcopter Drone technology Research and Development business that manufactures Drones for road surveillance, emergency services and national security. SkyView Tech was founded in March 2016 and currently has three city branches in Melbourne, Brisbane, and Canberra, with the Headquarters (HQ) in Sydney. You are hired by SkyView Tech. to carry out a top down network design by considering the company's requirements. You can assume that at the moment SkyView has no existing network as it has been founded only a month back. Each branch employs approximately 50 senior management staff and 450 other employees and it has 4 departments namely Engineering, Human Resources, Accounting and Sales. Each branch is to have a secure wired intranet network. SkyView business productivity is very important so it also wants to make sure that the network downtime is not more than 0.02%. SkyView Tech products are reputed worldwide because of their high quality and reliability. It has built a foundation of excellence and outstanding reputation with over a decade of research and development experience in Drone technology. As a result, SkyView Technologies is expected to expand their operations into different parts of the world. SkyView Tech employee numbers are projected to increase significantly in the coming year. As a result, SkyView is planning to expand in Australia by opening another branch in Adelaide and also potentially increasing capacity in existing branches by 10%. Since SkyView is restricted in space in the current branches, so SkyView is planning to provide training to its staff via online video-conferencing technology. Initially SkyView will provide training locally within Australia to its employees in branches and as time passes this will be expanded to cover the branches in the international cities mentioned above. All the online training will be live broadcasted from Sydney HQ of SkyView Tech and all the training material will be made available online on its webservers. As the training material is very confidential in nature so the webservers need to be provided with a secure or a protected network. SkyView is also planning to implement desktop screen sharing and online meeting facility which will allow the staff in different branches to collaborate to develop, deliver and improve the SkyViews drone technology. This will reduce time and money spent in research and development and the cost of travelling. In creating the remote collaboration environment and to facilitate technology transfer, SkyView wants to properly equip meeting rooms at all four national branches and HQ and in future in international branches. In particular each branch office will have high quality digital video conferencing systems and remote desktop sharing facilities with a WAN to support it. Currently there is no provision for wireless access in the SkyView branches and HQ. Wireless access would allow the employees of SkyView to have Internet connectivity while on the move. This will also allow visitors to the SkyView to access the Internet wirelessly using their own laptop/tablet computer. An important issue that needs to be addressed is that the wireless network should provide support for casual visitors and a secure access to resources for the staff. This means that the casual visitors should not be able to gain access to the resources for the staff. Online training, remote collaboration and wireless access, all need to be secured so network security is another important issue that needs to be incorporated in the design. Requirements In a group of 2-3 students, you are to design the network create diagrams using a good drawing program and submit a report based on the above scenario. Network Design with security proposal: Network security is a major consideration that needs to be taken into account in the design. Research and explain technically the choices that you make to implement security in the wired as well as the wireless parts of the SkyView Tech network. Also, you need to critically review the case study and propose both the logical network design and physical network design. This section should have detailed diagrams on the layout of the overall network. Clearly show the building(s), the cabling layout, the devices and their location. Your design should also include detailed IP subnetworking and address allocations, design issues, and routing protocols selected for the proposal. The diagrams should be accompanied by a description of how it all comes together and works. How would you carry out a performance study of your designed network? d. Network applications: What are the expected applications to be used in the company's network and the user communities? How will this information be helpful in the network design? Your report should document the system requirements for these applications and if the system will meet the requirements or not. If not, then what is proposed solution? You should also prepare a table showing the name and type of the applications, their criticality and other necessary comments. e. Network Devices: Research the physical devices to be used based in your logical network design. Include the manufacturer and the model number. Explain the reason for selecting the network devices. You should also clearly state and show in diagram(s) where you would place the devices. g. Costing: This should contain a summary of the costs researched of hardware and software that this design would require the client to purchase. h. Test plan: This section should contain your plan for testing your network design. Details for testing of a prototype and scenarios considered should be provided. i.
