1. Describe, and explain the reasons for, the preparation, care and aftercare the patient would need for the imaging examinations they are having. AND 2. Describe the procedure for giving intravenous contrast agent, with reference to consent, pre and post injection checks and the procedure to follow if the patient has an adverse reaction to the contrast agent. You do not need to describe cannulation of the patient. You now need to use your plan and the feedback given to you to write the essay in full. The marks will be awarded as follows (see marking plan too). 1. Clear description and explanation of what preparation, care and aftercare the patient will need for EACH imaging examination and why such preparation is necessary. (35%) 2. Clear description of the procedure for giving intravenous contrast agent, with reference to consent, pre and post injection checks and the procedure to follow if the patient has an adverse reaction to the contrast agent. You do not need to describe cannulation of the patient. (35%) 3. The quality of your academic writing and presentation. (20%) 4. Appropriateness of references and the accuracy in your recording of them. (10%) The maximum word count allowed is 1500 excluding references and appendices.You must submit your answers electronically as a word-processed piece of work using a standard font and double spacing. Good quality fully referenced images should support the discussion. The Harvard referencing system must be followed. You should take care to maintain confidentiality throughout your work, following faculty guidelines for referencing local policies etc. If a patient's/client's name or that of a member of staff or the name of a trust/hospital is included in any part of your work, including appendices (if they are not available to the general public), then you will fail. The work will be deemed a 'technical fail' and will receive a mark of 1% only. Success in the resubmitted work will be subject to capping, as for any resubmission.
