Assessments Assessment #1 - Essay - Assignment 1 (Graded) This assessment item enables you undertake a piece of writing as a beginning level health professional that will be suitable for inclusion in an e-portfolio. One of the requirements of a Registered Nurse is that they must achieve a minimum of 20 hours of continuing professional development (CPD) each year they practice. This involves reflection upon practice to identify areas for further development, identifying suitable learning experiences, completing these and then reflecting upon learning and its application to practice. Formal documentation of CPD is an ongoing professional process that is available for auditing should this be requested by the national regulatory agency, the Australian Health Practitioners' Registration Authority (AHPRA). One method of collating such information is through the use of an electronic portfolio (e-portfolio). This e-portfolio provides a repository of evidence that can be built upon during your time as an undergraduate student and will be very relevant once you graduate and continue to collect CPD points as a Registered Nurse. For this assignment you are required to: Reflect on the three questions listed below and draw upon your clinical experience and the course readings when preparing your responses. Develop 3 statements of 250 words each in response to the questions about the practice of the registered nurse, QUESTIONS Question One: What role do codes of ethics and conduct have in the regulation of nursing and midwifery practice? Question Two: What are the responsibilities of the Registered Nurse in regards to the use of social media? Question Three: What are competency standards and why are they important for the practice of nurses and midwives in Australia?
