1.7.1. Research Design
?This study seeks to adopt the case study research design because of its capacity of examining the why, what and how questions which are replete in this study. Thus, in selecting the focus communities in Nigeria for the study, a critical case approach was employed. Patton, (2001: 236) argued that “a critical case approach involves the selection of cases that are likely to “yield the most information and have the greatest impact on the development of knowledge”
1.7.2. Sample size, sampling and sampling procedure
?The study will adopt the purposive and snowball sampling procedures and a total sample size of about 15 to fifty respondents will be used. Comprised of (3) farmers, (5) herdsmen, (10) cattle owners, (5) traditional rulers, (5) security officers, (5) health care provider, (5) lecturers. Semi-structured interviews will be used for farmers, cattle owners, herdsmen, the police, lecturers and traditional rulers.
